On the evening of March 18, in Chung Son village, Son Thuy commune (Quan Son), the Muong Xia Festival 2024 took place. Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Nguyen Van Thi, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches, districts, towns and cities in the province; Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province; leaders of Vieng Xay district, Hua Phan province (Lao PDR) along with a large number of officials, people in the district and tourists.

The Muong Xia Festival has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2022. This is an important cultural and religious activity in the spiritual and cultural life of the Thai ethnic group in Quan Son district; an occasion for people to commemorate General Tu Ma Hai Dao - who made great contributions in defeating the invaders, bringing a peaceful and prosperous life to the people of the western border of Thanh Hoa.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi presented gifts to officials and people of Son Thuy commune.
The festival also recreates the formation and development process of Muong Xia associated with the history of Muong Chu San, the legend of the love between a talented young man and a beautiful young woman on Pha Dua mountain and the customs and beliefs of the Thai people of Muong Xia.

Every year on the 9th and 10th of February (lunar calendar), the people here hold the Muong Xia Festival.
Nowadays, Muong Xia Festival is not only limited to the Thai ethnic group in Son Thuy commune (Quan Son), but is also a place for cultural exchange and activities between the Thai, Kinh, and Muong ethnic groups in Quan Son district and the Muong Dao region, Ba Thuoc district (hometown of Tu Ma Hai Dao), and the Muong Ben and Muong Xoi regions of Laos.

Through the ups and downs of history, the Muong Xia Festival has been passed down through many generations by local people. Currently, the festival has changed to suit reality but still retains its inherent "soul". With profound historical, humanistic and scientific values, in 2022, the Muong Xia Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Muong Xia Festival 2024 is organized by Quan Son district with many cultural and sports activities rich in traditional cultural identity, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate.
