Provincial Border Guard: Celebrating 20 years of establishment of the force to prevent and combat drugs and crimes

(QBĐT) - On the afternoon of February 21, the Provincial Border Guard Command (BĐBP) held a meeting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the drug and crime prevention and control force (PCMT&TP). Attending were leaders of the Command and coordinating units and agencies; leaders of the PCMT&TP force of the Provincial Border Guard through the periods.

Colonel Trinh Thanh Binh, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, presented flowers to congratulate officers and soldiers of the PCMT&TP Department.

Implementing the decision of the General Staff, on February 23, 2005, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command announced the decision to establish the Drug Crime Prevention Department (now the Drug Crime Prevention and Control Department). After 20 years of efforts, the Drug Crime Prevention and Control Department, the Provincial Border Guard has continuously grown and developed, successfully fighting and destroying many drug trafficking and transportation lines, explosives, and firecrackers across the border, keeping peace and happiness for the people.

On behalf of the Border Guard Command, Colonel Trinh Thanh Binh, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard Command, awarded certificates of merit to 1 collective and 3 individuals with achievements in the work of PCMT&TP.

From February 2005 to February 2025, the PCMT&TP Department directly, presided over and coordinated with units to detect, arrest and handle 9,435 cases with 13,703 subjects; seized nearly 1.8 tons of drugs of all kinds; 62 military guns of all kinds; 28 homemade guns; more than 21,000 bullets of all kinds; nearly 5.3 tons of explosives; 4.8 tons of various types of firecrackers; 5kg of gold and many other goods worth tens of billions of VND.

With the results achieved over 20 years of establishment, the PCMT&TP Department, the Provincial Border Guard has been honored to receive 6 Third-class Military Exploit Medals, 1 Friendship Medal, 1 Certificate of Merit and 1 Letter of Merit from the Prime Minister and many other noble awards from the Party, State, Government, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Public Security, Border Guard Command, Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee of Quang Binh Province, Kham Muon Provincial Police (Laos), Provincial Border Guard Command.
