In the spirit of the new year 2025, on the morning of February 13, more than 2,190 outstanding young people of the Mining Region put on their military uniforms, proudly fulfilling the responsibilities and duties of youth in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. With the joint efforts of the entire political system, the volunteering and volunteering of the young people, the 2025 military enlistment ceremony in the whole province took place on the morning of February 13 quickly, solemnly and safely. This is truly a festival for all people, a festival for the youth of Quang Ninh to set out to defend the Fatherland.
On the road to answer the call of the Fatherland
Early in the morning, at military enlistment points in the province, from urban to rural areas, mountainous border islands, thousands of young men selected for military service (NVQS) with their families and relatives were present in a sense of pride and excitement mixed with a bit of reluctance when saying goodbye. This year's military enlistment ceremony took place quickly, ensuring solemnity, safety, imbued with military-civilian affection, becoming a great and meaningful festival.
Twin brothers Vuong Quang Hieu and Vuong Quang Huy (19 years old) from Duc Chinh ward are two of 268 outstanding young men from Dong Trieu city who are joining the army this time. Vuong Quang Hieu excitedly shared: We all have the same desire to join the military environment to train, mature and fulfill our civic responsibilities to the Fatherland. Therefore, we asked our families for permission to write a volunteer application, join the army together, so that our brothers can go together and return together. Our families always create the best conditions for us to fulfill our wishes. When joining the army, we will fully comply with the rules and regulations and strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks.
With the encouragement of family and relatives, provincial and local leaders and departments, branches and organizations attended the military handover ceremony, presented flowers to congratulate and encourage the new recruits to strive to train, follow military discipline well, strive to complete all tasks well, worthy of the trust and expectations of the Party, government and people.
New recruit Nguyen Tien Hung (Ha Tu ward, Ha Long city) confided: Born and raised in a homeland rich in revolutionary traditions of "Discipline and Unity", living in peace and enjoying the good things of the homeland, our young generation always deeply understands that performing military service and public security duties is not only an honor and pride, but also a noble responsibility of today's young generation towards the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation. Entering the new military environment of studying and training, I promise to strive and be determined to excellently complete the task of protecting the Fatherland, continuing the tradition of previous generations, worthy of the trust and love of the Party Committee, government and people for the youth of Ha Long city.
In the jubilant atmosphere of the military recruitment day, 13 localities in the province have completed the military recruitment work in 2025, reaching 100% of the assigned target. Many units have recruited soldiers meeting the target and with high quality, such as: Ha Long, Cam Pha, Quang Yen, Dong Trieu...
Comrade Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee, Chairman of the Military Service Council of Ha Long City, said: The preparation for today's military handover ceremony was carefully directed by the City Military Service Council, with plans for welcoming new recruits and ensuring security and safety during the ceremony. Ha Long City has strived to fulfill the recruitment target, with the quality of new recruits with college and university degrees reaching nearly 20%. The Party Committee, government and people of the city as well as families and relatives always trust and look forward to the results of the study, training and efforts of the new recruits.
Ensure quantity, improve quality
More than 2,190 citizens who will join the army in 2025 are excellent young people, meeting all three criteria (health, education level, political quality). The proportion of young people with health type 1 and type 2 is nearly 60%; the proportion of university and college graduates accounts for nearly 11%. Localities have organized Party awareness training courses for nearly 820 young people before they leave. The whole province has nearly 800 citizens who have volunteered to perform military service. This is a vivid proof affirming the leadership and direction of the drastic and strict implementation of the stages and steps, along with the active participation of the entire political system and all classes of people in implementing the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in the province in 2025.
Colonel Khuc Thanh Du, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial Military Service Council, said: Determining that military recruitment is a key political task in local defense and military work, the Provincial Military Service Council has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue documents to lead the military recruitment work in 2025 to assign specific tasks to all levels, sectors, localities, and units to seriously and effectively implement the Law on Military Service; promote the combined strength of the entire political system at all levels in performing the military recruitment task. At the same time, the Council directed the standing agency of the Provincial Military Service Council to organize training on military recruitment for the Military Service Councils of districts, towns, and cities as a basis for unifying and synchronously implementing measures to overcome the limitations and weaknesses in military recruitment work in previous years.
2025 is the first year of implementing Circular No. 105/2023/TT-BQP (dated December 6, 2023) stipulating health standards and health examinations for subjects under the management of the Ministry of National Defense, with many regulations on higher health standards. Citizens called for health examinations to perform military service in the province have had a general health examination, and after the clinical examination, they will be examined paraclinically with 7 of the most modern machines in the health sector. Therefore, the health quality of new recruits this year is stricter and more effective, and whoever is recruited is sure. The whole province has 7,298 citizens called for health examinations for military service. Of which, the number of citizens who meet the health standards is 2,559 people, accounting for 35.1%; the number of citizens who do not meet the health standards is 4,739 people, accounting for 64.9%.
Along with the military recruitment work, local Party committees, authorities, and organizations in the province organized visits, encouragement, gifts, savings books, and assistance to families of citizens who passed the military service but were in difficult circumstances. Each gift was worth tens of millions of VND. In particular, some coal companies, such as Thong Nhat, Mong Duong, Khe Cham in Cam Pha City, have a policy of supporting company workers who join the army with 2 million VND/month until the workers complete their military service and return to work at the company.
The 2025 military enlistment ceremony was a great success. The rolling buses took the new recruits to their training units; the hugs, tight handshakes, and even tears of excitement and hope from relatives told the new recruits to be confident and fulfill their sacred duty to the Fatherland.
