In the first days of the new year of Giap Thin, in Thai Yen carpentry village (Thanh Binh Thinh commune, Duc Tho), the production atmosphere has become bustling again. For the carpentry villagers here, the first orders of the year not only bring a stable income but also have the meaning of "opening the door" for a year of good business and good sales. Therefore, right after the Tet holiday, the villagers started production.
Urgently completing a set of tables and chairs worth 40 million VND to deliver to a customer in Vinh City (Nghe An) in early March, Mr. Phan Dang Tri - owner of Duong Tri wooden furniture facility excitedly said: "Since the 6th day of Tet, we have received 5 orders worth more than 300 million VND. This is a positive sign of a smooth start to the new year. Currently, the facility is focusing on human resources and materials to soon complete the products. We hope that this year, wooden products of Thai Yen carpentry village will be supported by customers across the country so that the facilities have more conditions to expand production, invest in more modern machinery to create highly artistic wooden products."
The first orders of the year are the motivation for Thai Yen carpentry villagers to confidently enter the new production season.
Since the 6th day of Tet, Mr. Nguyen Minh Phong's wood workshop (Thai Yen carpentry village) has been bustling with the sounds of saws and chisels. Mr. Phong shared: "We cannot let production stagnate in January, so we have contacted our acquaintances to sell our products since the beginning of the year. With this approach, we have "closed" 2 orders after Tet with a total value of nearly 100 million VND. This is the motivation for us to try harder in production and business."

From rough sawn wood, skilled craftsmen in Thai Yen carpentry village have passionately "breathed life" into quality products such as beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs... serving customers across the country.
Mr. Doan Ngoc Huong - Chairman of Thanh Binh Thinh Commune People's Committee said: "Thai Yen carpentry village currently has more than 700 production and trading establishments with main products such as: tables, chairs, beds, cabinets, worship items... Right after the Lunar New Year holiday, the establishments and factories quickly imported raw materials and started making products. With the production situation improving since the beginning of the year, it is hoped that the production activities of the craft village will develop more and more, bringing high income to the people".
Mrs. Bui Thi Le (born in 1962, Thong Nhat village, Viet Tien commune) is diligently making hats to deliver to customers.
At Ba Giang conical hat craft village in Thong Nhat hamlet (Viet Tien commune, Thach Ha), in the first days of the new year of Giap Thin, people also urgently started making hats, starting a new production season in the hope of a year of good sales.
Having been involved in the hat-making profession since she was 10 years old, Ms. Bui Thi Le (born in 1962, Thong Nhat village, Viet Tien commune) has been involved in the profession for more than 50 years. Ms. Le shared: “For me, this is not only a job that brings income to the family but also a profession that my ancestors left behind, a traditional beauty of my hometown. Therefore, right after Tet, I started making hats to serve customers. On average, if we work steadily, I and 3 other family members can complete 6 products each day, selling for 50 - 70 thousand VND/piece. However, sometimes there are not enough products to deliver to customers.”
Each Ba Giang conical hat is currently sold for 50 - 70 thousand VND/piece, depending on the type.
According to Ms. Le, the Ba Giang conical hat brand is now not only limited to her hometown but also welcomed in many other regions, thanks to which her family also has a stable income from this job. After Tet, not only her family but also many other households have started the new production season.
Currently, the whole Thong Nhat village has 54 households with more than 130 workers participating in production. In particular, after being recognized as a traditional craft village at the end of 2021, the hat making profession has been promoted, introduced products, and expanded the consumption market. On average, people in the craft village can produce about 70,000 products each year, bringing in nearly 3 billion VND in revenue for local people.
Not only Thai Yen carpentry village, Ba Giang conical hat craft village, at this time, most craft villages in Ha Tinh have started the new production season. Hopefully, the people of the craft villages will have a successful production and business year.
