Up to now, nearly 20 banks have increased their 6-month deposit interest rates to over 5%/year. About 3 months ago, the market had only a few banks listing interest rates above 5%/year for this term.

According to statistics, Vietnam Construction Bank (CB), National Citizen Bank (NCB) and Ocean Bank (OceanBank) are currently leading the market in 6-month deposit interest rates. The highest deposit interest rate at CB is up to 5.55%/year, at NCB is 5.45%/year, and at OceanBank is 5.4%/year.

Currently, a series of banks are listing an interest rate of 5.2%/year for 6-month term deposits, including Bao Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BaoViet Bank), Ban Viet Commercial Joint Stock Bank (BVBank), Dong A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Dong A Bank), Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank), Kien Long Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Kienlongbank), and Vietnam Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VietBank).

The group of banks listing interest rates above 5%/year also includes Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Bac A Bank) listing 5.15%/year; Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank (OCB) and Ho Chi Minh City Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (HDBank) both listing interest rates of 5.1%/year for 6-month term deposits.

Meanwhile, the 6-month term bank interest rate at Global Petroleum Bank (GPBank) is 5.05%/year.

The group of banks that are listing the mobilizing interest rate of 5%/year for a 6-month term include An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBank), Nam A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Nam A Bank), Prosperity and Development Joint Stock Commercial Bank (PGBank), Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB), and Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank).

However, the above interest rates are only listed by banks. In fact, customers can receive different interest rates depending on each branch as well as the amount of customer deposits. Some banks such as Techcombank, VPBank, ACB, VIB, etc. maintain a ladder interest rate policy, so the larger the deposit amount, the higher the interest rate customers will receive.

Up to now, 12 banks have increased deposit interest rates since the beginning of September, including: Dong A Bank, OceanBank, VietBank, GPBank, Agribank, Bac A Bank, NCB, OCB, BVBank, ACB, PGBank, and Nam A Bank.

Of which, OceanBank and Dong A Bank increased interest rates for the second time this month.

On the contrary, ABBank is the first bank to reduce deposit interest rates this month with a reduction of 0.1-0.4%/year for terms of 1-12 months.
