On February 7, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban revealed that his country is preparing to sign an important economic agreement with the United States, aiming to address the "damage" caused by the previous administration of Mr. Joe Biden.

According to the AP news agency, although not providing detailed information, Mr. Orban affirmed that the new agreement with the Trump administration will encourage investments from the US.
According to Prime Minister Orban, the previous US administration led by former President Joe Biden did not renew some agreements, even introduced some sanctions and caused difficulties in traveling.
The Hungarian leader also announced plans to require full disclosure of Washington's funding for non-governmental organizations, after the Trump administration considered merging the US Agency for International Development (USAID) into the State Department.
In 2017, Prime Minister Orban's government passed a law targeting NGOs receiving foreign funding, but the law was repealed after an official announcement from the European Union (EU).
Mr Orban has accused foreign-funded NGOs, particularly those receiving USAID grants, of trying to influence Hungarian politics and undermine the government. The Hungarian prime minister has called the money “an instrument of political influence” and called for legal action against those receiving such funding.
The leader has also hinted that the Central European country could withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC), after Trump vowed to sanction the organization. Last November, the head of the Hungarian government publicly invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest, despite an ICC arrest warrant against the leader.
In 1999, Hungary signed the Rome Statute, the international treaty that established the ICC, and ratified it two years later, during Mr Orban's first term. However, the government has argued that it is not bound by the statute, due to technical legal issues surrounding its application to Hungarian law.
