Commemorating the 625th anniversary of the death of Senior General Tran Khat Chan

On the morning of May 31 (April 24 of the lunar calendar), at three temples dedicated to General Tran Khat Chan in Vinh Loc town, Vinh Tien and Vinh Thinh communes (Vinh Loc), a ceremony was held to commemorate the 625th anniversary of the death of General Tran Khat Chan to commemorate and pay tribute to the indomitable and loyal general who served the people and the country.

At the ceremony, delegates and people together reviewed the life and career of Senior Lieutenant General Tran Khat Chan.

He was born in 1366 in Ha Lang village, Vinh Ninh district, now Vinh Loc district. Due to his great contribution in defeating the Champa invaders, he was promoted to the rank of General for the second time and was granted land to establish a village in Hoang Mai, south of Thang Long citadel - Hanoi, when he was only 24 years old.

Leaders of Vinh Loc district offered incense to commemorate the merits of General Tran Khat Chan.

He died on April 24, Ky Mao year (1399), at the age of 29. The people in the area deeply mourned and admired the heart of a loyal subject, so they built temples to worship him in many places, of which the temple at the foot of Dun Son mountain, Vinh Loc town is the main place of worship, the temples in Vinh Tien and Vinh Thinh communes are the memorial places.

Chairman of Vinh Loc Town People's Committee Trinh Trong Trung read a speech summarizing the biography, life and career of Saint Tran Khat Chan.

This year's Tran Khat Chan Temple Festival attracted a large number of people and tourists from all over the world. The ceremony was held solemnly and majestically, starting with the incense offering and sacrifice rituals.

The festival is organized with a dry rowing performance, male and female mandarin worship. This is a unique cultural beauty held at the Tran Khat Chan Temple Festival, Vinh Loc District.
