Increase in quality and quantity
In recent times, the implementation of the OCOP program has opened up a development direction with advantageous and typical products in the province. Up to now, OCOP products of Ninh Thuan province have been present in most provinces and cities across the country, in the system of supermarkets, retail stores, markets, ... many products are favored and trusted by consumers.
Thuong Thao fish sauce is a name that has been around for over 60 years, but because it has been mainly produced and traded freely, it is difficult to certify the quality as well as compete with similar products. In order for her family's fish sauce products to enter supermarkets and convenience stores in and outside the province, Ms. La Thi Le Phuong, owner of Thuong Thao fish sauce facility, Ca Na commune (Thuan Nam) turned to OCOP as an effective solution. Ms. Phuong shared: When she started preparing documents to participate in OCOP, it was quite difficult because she still lacked a lot of knowledge about intellectual property protection, food hygiene and safety criteria, environmental impact, documents proving product origin, label design, product logo, product story... After 2 years of trying and receiving support from the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), Ms. Phuong completed the documents and procedures to participate in the program. As a result, La Thi Le Phuong business household has 3 products recognized as 3-star quality provincial OCOP products.

Ms. Minh Chau, owner of Xu Phan business in Do Vinh ward (Phan Rang-Thap Cham city), excitedly said: Xu Phan grape wine products were highly appreciated by the Council and achieved 3 stars right from the first time participating. According to Ms. Chau, previously, she mainly did business online and only registered to participate in the typical rural industrial product program. After being promoted by the city's Economic Infrastructure Department, she decided to participate in OCOP. She is currently planning to expand the factory, invest in more modern machinery and equipment, print new packaging, etc. to improve quality and diversify products.
Over the years of implementation, through the propaganda and mobilization work of departments, branches, organizations, and local authorities, up to now, business households in the province have gradually understood more clearly the meaning and role of building and developing OCOP. The program has a widespread influence, along with the quality, the number of business households has also increased significantly. If the results of the evaluation and classification of OCOP products in 2020, out of 19 subjects, only 5 subjects are establishments, business households (accounting for 26%), mainly concentrated in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, then by the time of OCOP product classification in 2022, the number of establishments and business households has increased to 14 out of a total of 37 subjects participating in OCOP (accounting for 38%). In particular, many new and outstanding products appear such as: Melon, fresh grapes, grape wine, grape wine, orphan banana wine, seedless lemon, salt, etc. from localities such as: Ninh Phuoc, Ninh Son, Thuan Nam, Ninh Hai, Bac Ai.
Strengthening practical support solutions
Participating in the OCOP program is a good opportunity for businesses to affirm product quality, increase competitiveness, and expand markets. However, the number of rural industries and occupations and small-scale production households participating in the competition is still small compared to the actual potential of the province. To encourage businesses to participate and develop OCOP products, the Provincial People's Committee has directed all levels and sectors to actively support households to complete necessary procedures, innovate technology, improve product quality, find partners, and expand consumption markets...

According to the leader of the Department of Rural Development, during the implementation process, with many sources of capital, the province has many forms of support for entities to improve production capacity. The Department of Rural Development of the province coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Economic Department of districts and cities to guide entities to prepare documents and procedures to participate in the OCOP program. Support entities with products recognized by the Provincial People's Committee with 3 stars or more to redesign labels, support OCOP stamps, register for protection, intellectual property, geographical indications, register barcodes for traceability, promote products, etc.
Mr. Tran Quoc Sanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: In order to develop OCOP products, in addition to focusing on organizing production to promote the strengths, potentials, and quality of local products, the province also organizes activities to support facilities in applying, innovating, and improving machinery and equipment technology in an advanced and modern direction to meet market demand. Along with that, strengthen promotional activities to consume products, organize trade promotion programs for OCOP products, connect production facilities and enterprises in the province with other provinces and cities across the country; Organize trade fairs, display and introduce products at events in the province; support participation in fairs, trade conferences, connecting supply and demand in provinces and cities across the country, especially with large provinces and cities, potential markets (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Can Tho, provinces in the Central - Central Highlands region...); Combining trade promotion activities, promoting the province's products with investment and tourism promotion activities; organizing activities to connect Ninh Thuan province's enterprises with large distribution systems, supermarket systems, retail store chains (Co.opMart, Winmart, Big C Go, Bach Hoa Xanh...);...
In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade has guided and supported 74 products of 22 units to update and put products on the province's e-commerce platform (sanphamninhthuan.com) and plans to continue to put 150 more products on the province's e-commerce platform in the second quarter of 2023.
