Mr. Vo Van Chanh, former Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, was prosecuted for investigation due to his involvement in the case of converting 9 hectares of public land into private land at the Phuoc Thai residential area project.
Today (November 13), VietNamNet's source said that the Dong Nai Province prosecution agency has just decided to prosecute Mr. Vo Van Chanh, former Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Province People's Committee. Mr. Chanh was released on bail pending investigation.
Mr. Chanh was prosecuted for violating regulations on land management due to his involvement in the land violations in the Phuoc Thai residential area case, Tam Phuoc ward (Bien Hoa city).
Regarding the case, in August 2023, the Provincial People's Court sentenced 13 defendants for "violating regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State acquires land". However, the panel of judges recommended continuing the investigation of related individuals.
According to the authorities, in 1995, the Prime Minister signed a decision for Huy Hoang Garment - Construction Joint Stock Company to enter into a joint venture with a foreign partner company to lease land with an area of nearly 9 hectares in Tam Phuoc commune (now Tam Phuoc ward) to build a ceramic materials factory.
Because the joint venture project was not implemented, the Provincial People's Committee signed a decision to revoke the investment license and give Huy Hoang Garment - Construction Joint Stock Company full rights to use the land.
In 2017, Mr. Vo Van Chanh, while still holding the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, signed two decisions to allocate and lease land to Phuoc Thai Company to implement a residential area project. His permission for this company to use nearly 9 hectares of land without auctioning the land use rights is not in accordance with the provisions of the Land Law.
Previously, Mr. Chanh was Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade and then Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. After that, he became Secretary of the Bien Hoa City Party Committee and submitted a resignation letter as desired.
