Previously, Ms. Hoa was accused of plagiarizing her doctoral thesis in History. Hue University then intervened and determined that many of the accusations were true.

According to a representative of Hue University, the doctoral dissertation evaluation board of Ms. Hoa has 7 members who do not know each other and work independently. Each member has their own evaluation task and does not know the results of the other members.

“According to Hue University's request, by April 15, members of the appraisal council will send the results to the unit for Hue University to seal.

Up to now, 4 members have submitted their evaluation and appraisal results. The remaining members are expected to submit their results tomorrow. When all council members complete the appraisal, Hue University will make public and give the final conclusion on the thesis,” said a representative of Hue University.

As reported, Ms. Le Thi An Hoa was accused of plagiarism when writing her doctoral thesis on the topic "History of Vietnam: The process of formation, development and transformation of royal festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945".

Ms. Hoa successfully defended her thesis at Hue University on March 23, 2018.

Based on the Decision of the Director of Hue University on regulations on academic integrity, Ms. Hoa's thesis was determined to violate plagiarism. Many paragraphs and ideas overlap with other works without citing sources, with a total of 12 pages of violations.

On December 10, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Document No. 7828, stating that it had received Document No. 1907 dated November 25, 2024 from Hue University reporting the results of handling the complaint.

The Ministry of Education and Training requested Hue University to re-evaluate the content of Ms. Le Thi An Hoa’s thesis and determine the form of disciplinary action. In case the thesis does not meet the requirements of a doctoral thesis, Hue University should consider the responsibility of the council that approved the thesis.

The deadline for reporting results to the Ministry of Education and Training is before January 31, 2025.
