Smoke engulfs scrap yard in Nghe An

At 4:00 p.m. on December 1, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force was spraying water to cool the scene of a scrap yard fire in Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province.

According to initial information, at around 2:30 p.m. on December 1, residents of Hamlet 9, Nghi Phong Commune, Nghi Loc District discovered a fire breaking out at a scrap metal collection facility in the village, so they shouted to put out the fire.

However, the facility contained many flammable materials, so the fire quickly flared up violently, with black smoke hundreds of meters high covering the facility and residential area.

Fire and smoke engulfed the scrap yard.

Local people used on-site equipment to put out the fire and at the same time called the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Force mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers and many fire trucks to the scene to put out the fire.

However, the fire continued to rage fiercely. It was not until around 5 p.m. that the fire department was able to basically bring the fire under control.

According to Nghi Phong commune authorities, the fire did not cause any human casualties but the entire warehouse and scrap were burned down.

Authorities are currently examining the scene and investigating the cause of the fire.
