Business Outlook Survey 2024

VnExpressVnExpress04/12/2023

To help the Government clearly see the current situation and have more effective support policies in 2024, VnExpress and the Private Economic Development Research Board conducted a survey with business representatives.

2023 is considered the year when businesses continue to face difficulties when simultaneously facing lack of capital, hunger for orders, lack of human resources...

In the middle of the year, according to the Government's report, even some large enterprises were forced to sell themselves. The Government then took many actions to ease the difficulties with a series of directives to loosen credit, cut costs and procedures, and improve the business environment. In the last two quarters of the year, macroeconomic indicators have improved a lot.

However, many businesses still say that business is still very difficult. Domestic and foreign demand is still low, making businesses cautious, not daring to invest or borrow capital, despite credit incentives.

In the past 11 months, the country had more than 146,000 newly established enterprises with a total registered capital of VND1,360 trillion, up 6% in volume but down 7.9% in capital, according to the General Statistics Office. The total registered capital added to the economy was VND3,150 trillion, down nearly 30%. The number of enterprises returning to operation also increased slightly compared to the same period. Meanwhile, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business or stopping operations pending dissolution also increased sharply, by 21.7% and 26.3%, respectively.

According to businesses, they are holding out until 2024 - a time when the export market and global spending are forecast to be better. International indicators also see that Vietnam's growth in 2024 will have more positive points than in 2023.

To help the Government clearly see the business situation in the second half of 2023 and have effective support policies for the economy in 2024, the Private Economic Development Research Board and VnExpress conducted a survey with business representatives from now until December 8. Your business opinions will be compiled in a report and recommendations submitted to the Prime Minister.
