The first 3 secondary schools in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City announced their 6th grade enrollment plans for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City has just issued a document on 6th grade enrollment at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School for the 2025-2026 school year.
Accordingly, the three secondary schools above are expected to continue enrolling 6th grade students through competency assessment surveys. The schools will organize the surveys on the same day and with the same questions, conducted by the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City.
The competency test has a duration of 90 minutes, consisting of 2 parts: multiple choice and essay. In which:
The test consists of 20 multiple choice questions in English about understanding natural sciences, social sciences and enjoyment of life.
The essay section includes: English proficiency test: reading comprehension and writing in English; math and logical thinking test in Vietnamese; reading comprehension and writing test in Vietnamese.
The survey is expected to take place in mid-June 2025.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City, the expected enrollment quota for grade 6 at 3 schools is as follows:
Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School: Enrolling 9 6th grade classes with 315 students, of which at least 5 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes.
Hoa Lu Secondary School: Enrolling 7 6th grade classes with 245 students, of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes.
Binh Tho Secondary School: Enrolling 8 6th grade classes, with 280 students, of which at least 3 are integrated English classes, the rest are enhanced English classes.
All students who have completed primary school, wish to enter grade 6 in Thu Duc City, and have an average score of 9.0 or higher in math and Vietnamese at the end of the year will be eligible to apply.
Many secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City recruit 6th grade students using a survey.
It is known that previously, Ho Chi Minh City had only one public school, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, that recruited 6th grade students through a test.
From 2023, Ho Chi Minh City will have Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, from 2024, many other secondary schools will organize entrance exams such as: Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School, District 7; Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho in Thu Duc City...
