Affirming position in the national "arena" of excellent students

Awarding prizes to students who won prizes in the National Excellent Student Competition for the 2024-2025 school year.

Participating in the National Excellent Student Competition is an opportunity for students to develop their creativity, affirm their talents and acquired knowledge. The achievements that students achieve in this competition are not only a source of personal pride but also the pride of their families and schools, demonstrating the development of the education sector. In the 2024-2025 school year, Thanh Hoa continues to select 90 candidates to compete for 9 teams according to the new regulations. After many efforts and attempts of both teachers and students, out of a total of 90 candidates, 77 won prizes, including: 4 First prizes, 19 Second prizes, 32 Third prizes and 22 Encouragement prizes. With the above percentage of students winning prizes, the total number of prize-winning candidates accounts for 85.56%, becoming one of the 6 leading units nationwide in terms of the percentage of students winning prizes. This rate is much higher than many provinces and cities with the number of students winning prizes such as: Hanoi City 200/260 students won prizes, reaching a rate of 76.92%; Ho Chi Minh City 169/236 students won prizes, reaching a rate of 71.61%; Hai Phong City 102/129 students won prizes, reaching a rate of 79.07%...

Continuing to maintain the same results as previous years, out of 9 subjects, 3 subjects won 100% of the prizes and 3 subjects had students winning First Prize (including Math, Geography and English). In particular, in Math, 10/10 students won prizes, including 2 First Prizes, ranking 2nd nationwide after the specialized block of the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Notably, in the 2024-2025 school year exam, out of 90 students taking the exam, there was 1 10th grade student taking the Math exam, 2 10th grade students taking the Physics exam, all 3 students won prizes. This is a very impressive result, demonstrating the ability and determination of each student as well as the teachers who directly teach them.

Ms. Le Linh Huong, an English teacher at Lam Son High School for the Gifted, shared: “Training gifted students is a long journey that begins with awakening the passion in students, awakening their dormant potentials and lighting up the belief that all efforts will be rewarded. During that journey, there are inevitably times of discouragement, times of disappointment because the test results are not as expected or times of physical fatigue due to the long review time. But we do not give up, instead, our teachers and students still enthusiastically and diligently review to aim for the best goals. After each competition season, when the journey ends, besides the prize, the most valuable thing for teachers and students is the maturity of their students. They have become brave warriors in the intellectual race.”

According to Nguyen Thanh Son, Principal of Lam Son High School for the Gifted - the unit primarily responsible for selecting and training provincial teams to participate in national gifted student competitions, "training gifted students is a key task, of vital significance, and a political task of the school. Therefore, the school's board of directors has assigned specific tasks to each team, professional group, and professional core to find solutions from the team level to the school level. The school's motto is "turning pressure into motivation" so that each group and individual must consciously strive for common achievements."

In fact, in order to create a source of national excellent students and at the same time maintain the stable position of Thanh Hoa education on the "golden board" of national educational achievements, the work of discovering and nurturing outstanding and outstanding students to nurture and promote their talents has been carried out by the education sector in all schools in the province. Therefore, the quality and effectiveness of education are constantly improved through each school year. Evidence shows that in the recent national excellent student exam for the 2024-2025 school year, in addition to the students of Lam Son High School for the Gifted who won prizes, Ham Rong High School (Thanh Hoa City), Tinh Gia 2 High School (Nghi Son Town) and Quang Xuong 1 High School (Quang Xuong) each had 1 student winning a prize. In the 2023-2024 school year, among the 84 students who won prizes, there was 1 student from Chu Van An High School (Sam Son City). In the 2022-2023 school year, among the 61 prize-winning students, there is 1 student from Hau Loc 4 High School (Hau Loc)...

This result has affirmed the right and solid steps in the selection, training and fostering of "core" from the grassroots of the education sector. This is also the result of the attention and care of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the companionship of parents; the dynamism and creativity of schools, of management staff and teachers, along with the passion for learning and the constant creativity of students. In addition, timely rewards for students and teachers participating in the review of gifted students are also a practical solution. Immediately after the exam results were announced, the schools, the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training commended and rewarded the collectives and individuals who achieved achievements. This action has encouraged and motivated both teachers and students, and at the same time created consensus among parents and students in maintaining and improving the quality of key education in particular and comprehensive education in general.
