Opening of Southern Traditional Cake Festival

Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of February 18, Bac Lieu opened the Southern Traditional Cake Festival combined with a fair to promote tourism, trade, and OCOP products in Bac Lieu City in 2025.


In order to introduce and promote local specialties and tourism of Bac Lieu, creating a space for entertainment and recreation for people inside and outside the province, on the afternoon of February 18, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu City opened the Southern Traditional Cake Festival combined with a fair to promote tourism, trade, and OCOP products of Bac Lieu City in 2025.

This is also an opportunity for visitors to experience culinary culture, especially traditional cakes of the region, contributing to preserving and promoting the value of Vietnamese culinary culture and also an opportunity to gather and support artisans to promote the value of traditional cakes. The event also aims to connect with businesses inside and outside the province, gradually expanding the local traditional cake market. On the other hand, it is also an opportunity to promote and advertise the land, people, cultural identity, and tourism potential of Bac Lieu to a large number of visitors inside and outside the province through a program to visit typical tourist attractions in Bac Lieu city.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Southern Traditional Cake Festival combined with the fair to promote tourism, trade, and OCOP products in Bac Lieu City in 2025 will take place from February 18 to February 25, 2025 with the participation of 209 units from the Mekong Delta provinces, districts in the province and Bac Lieu City.

Accordingly, in combination with the implementation of commercial booths, there are more than 200 booths displaying traditional cakes, OCOP products, and images of Bac Lieu tourism. In particular, there will be nightly art performances and folk games associated with the festival's activities such as: demonstration of making traditional cakes, display and sampling, ...

“Southern folk cakes have existed since the time of land reclamation. Southern people have taken advantage of the natural environment and raw materials from rice, sticky rice, potatoes, and tubers to make delicious and nutritious cakes. For Southern people, cakes are not only used for eating but also the crystallization of local products, the sophistication in design, color, and the skillful hands of artisans, which also shows the grace and diligence of Southern women” – said Mr. Tran Minh Hai, Chairman of Bac Lieu City People’s Committee.
