Opening of the 2023 National Nestlé Milo Cup Children's Football Tournament (U11) in Quang Nam

(QNO) - This morning, June 3, at the Provincial Sports and Physical Training Center, the 2023 National Nestlé Milo Cup Children's Football Tournament (U11) in Quang Nam region opened. The tournament was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Young Pioneers and Children's Newspapers and the Vietnam Football Federation.

The organizing committee said that the qualifying round of the National Children's Football Tournament in Quang Nam has 15 teams participating, including Ha Giang, Viet Hung Thanh Hoa, Song Lam Nghe An, T&T VSH, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Hue, SHB Da Nang, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Duy Tan Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and the host team Quang Nam. The teams are divided into three groups, competing in a round-robin to calculate the ranking points in each group.

According to Mr. Tao Viet Hai - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this is one of the events aimed at celebrating the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2023) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023). At the same time, it is an opportunity for young players across the country to participate in a useful playground and demonstrate their talents, contributing to physical training and improving health every summer.

“Quang Nam hosts the tournament to convey the message of developing “Green Tourism - Experience the summer and explore the culture of Quang Nam” associated with promoting sports activities to serve the people and football fans with the desire to create connections, healthy sports competitions to promote the football movement among teenagers and children in the province. Thereby, introducing to the delegations participating in the tournament the cultural traditions, revolutionary history; potential, strengths and socio-economic achievements of Quang Nam province” - Mr. Hai said.

Right after the opening ceremony, the match between the host Quang Nam and Hue was quite evenly matched, giving the audience many beautiful and exciting plays. Missing many opportunities in the first half, in the second half, the U11 Quang Nam players scored a goal from a quick counterattack and ended the match with a 1-0 victory.

Before that, U11 Khanh Hoa poured goals into Quang Ngai's net with a 6-1 victory.

The 2023 National Nestlé Milo Cup Children's Football Tournament attracts a total of 48 participating teams divided into 3 qualifying regions. In addition to Quang Nam, there are also Thai Binh (19 teams) and Tay Ninh (14 teams). After the qualifying rounds in the 3 regions, the teams will be selected for the final round.
