Kaity Nguyen - The charming rose of Vietnamese cinema

Kaity Nguyen's real name is Nguyen Ngoc Binh An, born in 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City but grew up in the US. Returning to Vietnam to act in films and with the resounding success in terms of revenue of Em chua 18 , Kaity Nguyen was honored to receive a series of prestigious awards, including the Golden Lotus for Best Actress at the 20th Vietnam Film Festival in 2017, the Best Actress award at the Kite Awards in 2020, the Best Actress award at the Green Star Awards 2021...

Shining and being sought after since the movie Em chua 18 (2017) when she was only 17 years old, but Kaity Nguyen still firmly chose the "slow but sure" path for her career by only accepting to act in one movie each year and knowing how to choose projects very well.

Since then, Kaity Nguyen has only acted in 5 more films: Papa's Soul, Daughter's Body (2018), Blood Moon Party (2020), Old Girl with Many Tricks V (2021), Girl from the Past (2022) and most recently, The Last Wife (released in November 2023). It can be seen that in these films, Kaity Nguyen has roles that do not repeat herself and always strives in acting to be different, with her own unique style to satisfy the director as well as the audience.

Kaity Nguyen shared: "My team and I are very thoughtful and careful in choosing scripts, not greedily acting in many films to become famous, but the roles will slip away, losing the image that I have worked so hard to build. I want to go step by step very slowly, to be recognized as a real actor, so this is in line with my artistic direction. I think I need time to experience life, regenerate, recharge and observe the surroundings to enrich my life experience, from there I can have better changes in acting".

With the role of Mrs. Ba - a woman of humble origin, a concubine in the Northern countryside in the 19th century - in The Last Wife by director Victor Vu, Kaity Nguyen was praised by experts for her breakthrough performance with diverse inner expressions of the character, and has made great strides with many spectacular transformations. Victor Vu recently called Kaity Nguyen "a true movie star". He said: "I feel very lucky to work with an actress who is not only professional and talented but also cute and hard-working. For me, Kaity Nguyen's new role is a breakthrough for herself, and Kaity is clearly a breakthrough choice for the film My Last Wife ".

Currently, in addition to acting, Kaity Nguyen is also trying her hand at film production by opening her own company and investing in many big films. Looking back on 2023, Kaity Nguyen shared with Thanh Nien reporter: "2023 has great significance for me when I learned how to balance work and life, spend more time for myself, improve my knowledge by regularly reading books or learning new things... It can be said that I had a very satisfying and happy 2023 with what I have accomplished. As for artistic activities, the role of Linh in The Last Wife brought me many experiences and joy when being welcomed and loved by audiences who love cinema. Through this project, I have a better understanding of the culture, people and lives of Vietnamese women in ancient times and am also extremely proud to be a Vietnamese woman . I look forward to a greater opportunity if I am assigned a role about a mother, in a film that tells a deeper story about mothers. It will be like a thank you to mothers, including my mother".

Regarding her work plans in 2024, Kaity Nguyen said: "I am cherishing quite a few plans and will still give top priority to movies. Currently, everything is still in the preparation process and I will reveal it at the most appropriate time. I hope that as an actor, producer or film investor, my entertainment company KAT House and I will always receive support from everyone. I always want to bring the best of myself to the audience and hope that I can inspire or give positive energy so that young people can confidently choose the right path and never give up. I tell myself to try every day to be worthy of the love everyone has for me. As an actor and someone who is passionate about art and loves cinema, I want to contribute more to my work."

Sharing about her plan to celebrate Lunar New Year 2024, Kaity Nguyen said: "Every year during the spring days in Vietnam, I usually spend time visiting both my paternal and maternal families. I think that just being together during the holidays is very warm and meaningful. This year, for me, it will still be a Tet with my relatives, but because my grandmother has returned to the US, if I can arrange the time, I will fly to the US to celebrate the New Year with her."
