In a statement, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha stressed that the meeting would discuss how to address “dangerous developments” in Jerusalem and Israel’s relentless raids across the occupied territories.

The OIC meeting was convened at the request of Palestine and Jordan, following repeated Israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa mosque compound as well as the latest visit to the site by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

This is the second time Mr. Gvir has visited Al-Aqsa temple since taking office in Israel's far-right government, causing protests not only from Palestine but also from the Arab community and many countries around the world.

Earlier, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that early on the morning of May 23 (local time), the Israeli army raided and arrested at least 10 Palestinians, including a 62-year-old man in the occupied West Bank, injuring two young Palestinians.

According to Witnesses said the Israeli attacks sparked confrontations with Palestinians in the area, leading to the Jewish state's security forces firing bullets, sound bombs and poison gas.

The violence occurred just one day after the Israeli army raided Balata Camp in Nablus on May 22, killing three Palestinians.

According to AFP news agency statistics, since the beginning of the year, at least 156 Palestinians have been killed due to Israeli raids and raids.
