Ky Anh district focuses on protecting forests at the root

On the afternoon of March 31, the People's Committee of Ky Anh district held a conference to review forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting (FFP) work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025.

In recent times, the work of propagating and disseminating legal education on forest protection and development has been widely implemented by functional agencies and local authorities, and the awareness of forest protection and fire prevention and control among officials and people in the area has gradually changed positively.

Accordingly, the District Forest Protection Department has proactively coordinated with functional agencies and local authorities to organize 20 training sessions to disseminate laws on Forestry, Biodiversity Law, Fire Prevention and Fighting Law, etc. with more than 1,000 participants. Mobilized 4,880 students from 15 schools and 4,005 households from 120 villages with households living near forests to sign a commitment to strictly implement regulations and rules on forest protection and fire prevention and fighting.

Head of Ky Anh District Forest Protection Department Nguyen Dinh Luu reported on the results of forest protection, fire prevention and fighting work in 2024 and deployed tasks for 2025.

Regarding forest use and development, in the past year, the whole district exploited 152,360 m3 of concentrated planted forests ^; planted 3,800 hectares of raw material forests; and planted over 356,000 scattered trees.

In addition, the Ky Anh District Forest Protection Department also coordinated with relevant units to inspect, detect, handle and advise on handling 12 violations, impose administrative fines of 119.5 million VND, confiscate 3,587m3 of ^wood ; mobilize people to voluntarily hand over 9 wild animals, hand them over to Vu Quang National Park for reception, care and re-release into the natural environment; destroy 1,216 fake decoy birds, 2,850m2 of ^trapping nets, 5 signal transmitters, 14,230 bait sticks, demolish 49 bird traps and huts, and release 78 live decoy birds into the wild.

Ky Anh District Forest Rangers regularly renew and repair fixed wall signs promoting forest fire prevention and control.

In 2025, it is forecasted that hot and dry weather will occur, with the potential risk of forest fires. Forest exploitation and encroachment on forest and forestry land are becoming more complicated. To effectively carry out forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting, Ky Anh district will enhance the effectiveness of State management in the fields of forest management and protection, forest fire prevention and fighting, and forest product management; promote the potential and advantages of forests and forestry land in economic and social development and environmental protection.

Focus on directing forest protection at the root; pay attention to the fight, prevention, strengthening of inspection, control, supervision, detection, prevention, timely and strict handling of forest encroachment. Strengthen propaganda, dissemination, legal education, raise awareness and responsibility of officials and people in both forest protection and forest development.

Promote socialization in forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting, mobilize maximum resources for investment in protection and sustainable forest development, effectively promote the 4 on-site capacities, in which prevention is the main task, and handling must be timely, thorough and effective.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ky Anh district awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in forest protection, forest fire prevention and fighting in 2024.
