The Houthi group announced that they used missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and two US destroyers in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

Mr. Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Houthi group in Yemen, announced on the X platform on November 12 that in addition to the airstrike targeting the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier (US) in the Arabian Sea, this force also targeted two US Navy destroyers in the Red Sea.

According to RT citing Mr. Saree’s post, the attacks on November 12 involved a number of cruise missiles and UAVs. Mr. Saree emphasized that the above airstrikes were conducted amid the US’s preparations for military action against Yemen.

Mr Saree claimed that the Houthis had achieved their objective and prevented an airstrike by US forces. Mr Saree added that the two attacks lasted eight hours.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder denied reports of an attack on the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. Ryder confirmed that two US destroyers were attacked by drones and missiles from the Houthis.

According to Reuters, quoting Mr. Ryder, 2 US warships were attacked by at least 8 UAVs, 5 anti-ship ballistic missiles and 3 anti-ship cruise missiles. The incidents did not cause any damage or casualties.

The Houthis regularly carry out attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in a show of solidarity with Palestinians in the Hamas-Israel conflict in the Gaza Strip. They also accuse the US and UK of turning the Red Sea into a zone of military tension and causing serious consequences for maritime activities.

Meanwhile, the US and UK have repeatedly struck Houthi targets in Yemen since January in response to attacks by the group on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
