Responding to the proposal of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province on expanding some narrow roads and bridges on National Highways 30 and 80, the Ministry of Transport said that according to the road network planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 20501, National Highway 30 is about 112km long, starting at National Highway 1 (Cai Be, Tien Giang), and ending at Dinh Ba border gate, Dong Thap.

The section through Dong Thap province is about 104km long, of which 64km has been invested to meet grade III road standards, 2 lanes, the remaining 40km meets grade IV road standards, 2 lanes.
Regarding National Highway 80, the Ministry of Transport said that this national highway is 216km long, starting at National Highway 1 (My Thuan, Vinh Long city), ending at Ha Tien border gate, Kien Giang, level III scale, 2-4 lanes.
The section through Dong Thap province, about 47km long, has been basically invested to meet the standards of a grade III road, 2 lanes, with only about 4km remaining through some bridge construction locations meeting the standards of a grade IV road, 2 lanes.
To meet the needs of safe traffic, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Vietnam Road Administration to maintain, repair and renovate some sections of National Highway 30 and National Highway 80 from public funds, of which about 101 billion VND will be allocated in 2024 and about 75 billion VND is expected to be allocated in 2025.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the Ministry of Transport has balanced about VND 8,751 billion to invest in 5 projects and VND 3,640 billion for the Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway project in Dong Thap province, which has been decentralized to the locality as the competent authority for implementation.
Of which, VND848 billion is for completing the investment in the project connecting the central Mekong Delta region; more than VND1,900 billion is for the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway project; VND194 billion is for the National Highway 54 project (phase 2); VND909 billion is for the National Highway 30 project, Cao Lanh - Hong Ngu section; VND738 billion is for the Cao Lanh - Lo Te route and VND475 billion is for the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway project, phase 1.
Affirming the need to invest in National Highway 30 and National Highway 80 through Dong Thap province, the Ministry of Transport said that due to resource difficulties, it has not been possible to allocate capital to invest in the route in the period of 2021 - 2025. In the process of developing the public investment plan for the period of 2026-2030, based on the ability to balance resources and capital allocation principles, the Ministry of Transport will consider early investment in these two national highways.
