On July 14, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Tran Thi Yen Oanh - Vice Chairman of An Son Commune People's Committee - said that about 700 tourists were stuck on this island commune for 2 days due to bad weather and the boats stopped running.

"Currently, tourists stuck on the island are supported by motel owners with accommodation and meals, with half the room rates and car rental prices. Depending on the weather, boats will take tourists back to the mainland," said Ms. Oanh.

Previously, ferries from Rach Gia, Ha Tien to Phu Quoc, Nam Du were temporarily suspended due to bad weather.

According to the Hydrometeorological Station of Kien Giang province, due to the influence of a tropical depression in the East Sea, some coastal provinces and cities have had rain and thunderstorms for many days.

In Phu Quoc City alone, there was heavy rain on the morning of July 14. Authorities also focused on evacuating and rescuing people and property at deeply flooded areas to safety.

An Son island commune belongs to Nam Du archipelago, located in the southeast of Phu Quoc island, 115km from Rach Gia coast.
