The 2024 National Cooperative Forum with the theme “Sustainable development of product value chains” took place on the morning of April 11, 2024 at the International Convention Center (Hanoi). Within the framework of the forum, the Vietnam Women's Union signed a cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance.
Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of Collective and Cooperative Economy (HTX) Le Minh Khai attended and spoke at the Forum.
Attending the forum were representatives of the Party and State leaders, the National Steering Committee on Collective Economy, representatives of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, leaders of the Cooperative Alliance of 63 provinces and cities, representatives of international associations and organizations, scientists, businesses in the industry, processing, consuming, exporting products and 100 typical cooperatives honored in 2024.

At the forum, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai affirmed that the Party and State have completed the policy and legal mechanisms for the cooperative sector, and the mechanism is now basically complete.
In the development of collective economy and cooperatives, linking along the value chain brings many benefits. The Prime Minister has issued policies to encourage the development of cooperatives linked to the production chain since 2013, supporting the development of cooperative economy, encouraging the development of cooperation, linking the consumption of agricultural products; credit policies; agricultural insurance; policies to support linking along the value chain... Ministries, branches and localities have implemented many solutions to promote linking along the value chain.
“The Government always encourages and pays attention to the collective economic sector and cooperatives. How to have mechanisms and policies to resolve bottlenecks and effectively implement the goals, programs and projects issued by the Government,” Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized.

The forum is an opportunity for delegates to exchange, discuss and share in a frank and responsible spirit, focusing on analyzing the development status of the collective economic sector, cooperatives, and the level of cooperatives participating in the value chain. Delegates discussed and analyzed the opportunities, challenges and support needs for cooperatives to participate in sustainable development of the value chain in the coming time, and at the same time proposed breakthrough solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, attract social resources; strengthen the connection between members participating in the collective economy, participating in sustainable development of the value chain.
The aim is for the collective economic sector and cooperatives to fundamentally and strongly change their production and business methods to meet the requirements of the new development situation; creating motivation for the collective economic sector to catch up, progress together and advance compared to other economic sectors.

At the forum, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, the Vietnam Women's Union and the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance signed a cooperation agreement. The cooperation agreement between the two organizations aims to develop the economy and improve the lives of women who are members of cooperatives.
According to statistics, there are currently 31,764 cooperatives nationwide, including 20,960 agricultural cooperatives and 10,804 non-agricultural cooperatives. More than 4,000 cooperatives participate in production and linkage in commodity value chains (accounting for nearly 13% of the total number of cooperatives), about 30% of the total OCOP products nationwide are products of agricultural cooperatives. From that, it can be affirmed that the effectiveness of the collective economy and cooperatives is a solid foundation for building and developing sustainable commodity value chains.
