The top universities for Computer Science and Information Technology are mostly from the US and UK, with tuition fees typically starting at $60,000 a year.
On April 10, QS announced the university rankings by field, 2024. In the Computer Science and Information Technology group, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) leads with 94.8/100 points.
It was followed by two other US schools, Carnegie Mellon University and Stanford, both with 93.2 points. These were also the top three positions last year.
The UK's Oxford University is the highest-ranked school in Europe with 90.4 points, moving up one place to fourth. Meanwhile, the National University of Singapore (NUS) holds steady at sixth place, making it the best school in Asia for this subject.
Another representative of Singapore is Nanyang Technological University with 87.6 points, tied for 9th place. Swiss Federal Polytechnic University was in this position last year, dropping to 11th place this year.
The remaining positions are all old faces, mostly from the US and UK.

Tuition fees for the world's top 10 schools for Computer Science and Information Technology are commonly $60,000 a year. Stanford University has the highest tuition fee, up to $65,100 (1.65 billion VND). The lowest is the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, which only charges about $1,600 (40 million VND). This is a public school with a large source of funding from the Swiss government.
This fee does not include other expenses such as books, dormitory, living expenses... If studying in the US, the total cost of these expenses is about 20,000-30,000 USD per year.
Harvard is the toughest school to get into, with an acceptance rate of around 3.6%. Stanford, MIT and the National University of Singapore have acceptance rates of 4-5%. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology has the highest acceptance rate in the top 10, at 27%.
This year, 722 schools worldwide are eligible for QS rankings in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology.
The score is based on five criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per article, impact of the research on the scientific community, and international research network index.
Vietnam has five ranked higher education institutions, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Duy Tan University (Da Nang), in the top 500; Hanoi National University (top 501-550) and Ton Duc Thang University (601-650).
