Trillion-dollar universities on the rankings: Schools rise, schools fall

(Dan Tri) - According to the 2025 Vietnam University Rankings (VNUR-2025), in the group of universities with revenue of over 1,000 billion VND, there are schools that have risen in rank and there are also schools that have "fallen" in rank.


According to the recently announced Vietnam University Rankings 2025 (VNUR-2025), among the group of universities with revenue of 1,000 billion VND or more, there have been changes in ranking positions compared to 2024. Many schools have moved up in rank and some have "dropped" in rank.

In the top 10, only one trillion-dollar school "dropped" in rank, which was Ton Duc Thang University, from 3rd place in 2024 to 5th place in 2025.

This is also the school whose total ranking score dropped sharply from 95 points in 2024 to 77.5 points this year.

In particular, a series of criteria of this school decreased such as the criteria for ranking recognized quality standards from 2nd to 6th; ranking teaching standards from 48th to 53rd; standards for publishing scientific articles from 1st to 3rd; standards for facilities from 8th to 11th...

Outside the top 10, Nguyen Tat Thanh University dropped from 11th in 2024 to 17th in 2025. However, ranked by private school type, this is the 2nd ranked school, after Duy Tan University.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry dropped from 15th to 21st.

FPT University's ranking dropped from 66th in 2024 to 81st in 2025.

The rest, most universities with revenue from one trillion VND are ranked according to the VNUR-2025 ranking.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 4th place in 2024, increased one place to 3rd place in 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics rose 2 places, from 6th to 4th place.

National Economics University ranked from 16th to 15th.

In particular, the trillion-dollar school with the highest increase in rank according to this ranking is Van Lang University, from 41st place in 2024 to 19th place in 2025, an increase of 22 places.

Vietnam University Rankings 2025 - VNUR reviews 237 higher education institutions nationwide based on a variety of data. The 6 ranking criteria include recognized quality, teaching, scientific publication, scientific and technological tasks and inventions, student quality, and facilities.

According to publicly reported data, in 2024, there will be 6 public universities and 4 private universities with revenue of 1,000 billion VND or more.

Six public schools with revenue of VND1,000 billion or more include Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, National Economics University, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Polytechnic University (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Private schools with revenue of VND1,000 billion or more are FPT University, Nguyen Tat Thanh School, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Hutech) and Van Lang University.
