According to the Provincial Statistics Office, in November 2023, commercial production and services in the province continued to grow, thanks to the abundant, diverse, rich and diverse amount of goods circulating on the market to meet the needs and consumer tastes of the people. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in November reached VND 3,251.4 billion, up 2.2% over the previous month and up 14.3% over the same period last year.

According to the Provincial Statistics Office, in November 2023, commercial production and services in the province continued to grow, thanks to the abundant, diverse, rich and diverse amount of goods circulating on the market to meet the needs and consumer tastes of the people.

Comrade Nguyen Van Huong, Director of the Provincial Statistics Office, said: Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in November reached VND3,251.4 billion, up 2.2% over the previous month and up 14.3% over the same period last year. Specifically, in the general increase (14.3% over the same period), retail sales of goods reached VND2,420.6 billion, thanks to the promotional sales organized by commercial and service enterprises during the month on the occasion of November 20 and the end of the year, which increased purchasing power. In addition, the stable prices of some consumer goods have increased the demand for clothing and household items, causing revenue in some industries to increase compared to the same period last year, such as: Goods, culture, education increased by 22.15%; Household appliances increased by 37.61%... Revenue from accommodation and food services in November reached 547 billion VND, thanks to the increase in the number of international visitors and the increasing demand for food and drink of the people, contributing to the increase in restaurant revenue by 20.66%; tourism revenue reached 1.3 billion VND, up 1.2% over the previous month and up 12.2% over the same period. Revenue from other services alone reached 282.5 billion VND, due to the increase in education and health services, the increase in demand for entertainment and recreation, contributing to the increase in administrative services and support services by 18.77%; health services and social assistance activities by 18.69%; education services by 6.52%; other services by 13.77%.

The above results have impacted the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 11 months of 2023 to reach VND 34,712.1 billion, up 16.4% over the same period last year (the same period in 2022 increased by 36.6%). By industry, in the first 11 months of this year, retail sales of goods reached VND 26,369.1 billion, accounting for 76.0% of the total and up 13.6% over the same period last year. Of which, household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 28.4%; cultural and educational items increased by 26%; apparel increased by 21.5%; food and foodstuff increased by 8.9%; means of transport increased by 6.7%. Revenue from accommodation and catering services reached VND 5,412.7 billion, accounting for 15.6% of the total and up 30.2% over the same period last year. Tourism revenue reached VND14 billion, accounting for 0.04% and increasing by 114.3%. Other service revenue reached VND2,916.3 billion, accounting for 8.4% and increasing by 19.6%.

Regarding the consumer price index (CPI), in November, prices of many food and foodstuffs increased, especially rice prices increased sharply due to increased export rice prices; prices of household appliances, housing rentals and gas prices increased, contributing to the CPI increasing by 0.64% compared to the previous month and increasing by 4.20% compared to the same period last year. According to the analysis of the Provincial Statistics Office, in the 0.64% increase of the CPI in November, compared to the previous month, 6/11 main consumer goods and services groups had CPI increases. Of which, the food and catering services group increased the highest with 1.86%, due to the sharp increase of food prices by 7.68% and food prices by 1.69%. Next, the clothing, hats and footwear group increased by 0.57% due to the changing weather, increasing demand for some warm items such as sweaters and windbreakers. The groups: Beverages and tobacco increased by 0.09%; Household equipment and appliances group increased by 0.07%; other goods and services group increased by 0.05%; culture, entertainment and tourism group increased by 0.02%.

In addition to the factors that increased the CPI, the General Statistics Office also pointed out the factors that caused the CPI of 2 groups of goods and services to decrease in November 2023, namely: The transportation group decreased by 1.09%, mainly due to the impact of domestic gasoline price adjustments, causing gasoline prices to decrease by 3.47%; diesel oil prices decreased sharply by 7.10%. In addition, the 1.23% decrease in train ticket prices was the reason for the price index in this group to decrease compared to the previous month. The housing and construction materials group decreased by 0.60% due to the following reasons: Household electricity decreased by 2.64% due to the current cool weather, the demand for air conditioning in households decreased; Domestic water decreased by 0.5% due to the heavy rain in the month, the demand for domestic water and watering flowers and ornamental plants decreased; kerosene decreased by 5.55% compared to the previous month due to the impact of gasoline and oil price adjustments; prices of housing maintenance materials decreased by 1.83%. For the remaining 3 groups, including: Medicine and medical services group; post and telecommunications group and education group, the CPI index was stable. In the 11 months, the average CPI increased by 4.58% compared to the same period last year.

Regarding import and export activities, it is estimated that in 2023 the total turnover will reach 210 million USD, an increase of 1.7% over the same period, but only reaching 84% of the plan. Although in 2023, cashew nuts will have a clearer recovery, estimated at 30 million USD, an increase of 43.5% over the same period. In addition, 3 new export products have emerged in the year: stuffed animals, construction stones, and frozen processed mackerel, but the turnover is not high. Therefore, the total export turnover in the year is only estimated at 130 million USD, a slight increase of 0.5% over the same period, reaching 87% of the plan. The main export items in 2023 include: Seafood estimated at 67 million USD, down 15.4% over the same period in 2022, due to the main seafood export markets such as the US, Germany, Japan, whose economies are strongly affected by armed conflicts, high inflation, and people tightening spending, causing a sharp decrease in purchasing power; other items are estimated at 33 million USD, up 12.8% over the same period in 2022.
