Ms. Hoang Ha (Bac Tu Liem - Hanoi) shared that over time, peacock blanket fabric has been used more in life, from curtains, chair covers, to ao dai, scarves... Some coffee chains in Hanoi have also applied this pattern to create a unique nostalgic feeling. Typically, when the Cong Ca Phe chain combined the "peacock blanket" pattern as chair cushions in the space with relics of the subsidy period such as kerosene lamps, enameled iron holders, aluminum plates...
"In recent years, the "peacock blanket" pattern has been applied more strongly in the fashion field, gradually bringing the breath of the times. My group of friends and I even invited each other to sew "uniforms" from this type of fabric. For us, the 7X generation, wearing clothes with the "peacock blanket" pattern is like returning to the nostalgia of our childhood" - Ms. Hoang Ha confided.
Young people commented that the “peacock blanket” pattern printed with colorful patterns has been quite popular in Vietnam since “the time of our grandparents”. The most popular type is bright red, printed with peacock and large hibiscus patterns and has been transformed into many different versions but the main pattern is still the peacock combined with flowers and leaves.
Ms. Dang Minh Tam, 74 years old, Hai Ba Trung district, shared that in her time, people often used this type of fabric to make blanket covers, pillow covers, and tablecloths. When she got married, she also tried to save money to make a "peacock blanket" cover like the dream of many other couples at that time.
In the cold of the drizzly winter days, the whole family huddled together under a blanket on a small bed that was surprisingly warm. The “peacock blankets” – a precious “asset” that many families in the North wanted to own at that time – are still beautiful images and memories in the minds of many generations like Mrs. Tam.
Over time, there were times when the “peacock blanket” pattern gradually sank into oblivion. But in recent years, the “peacock blanket” pattern has been “renewed” with many flexible and lively variations, and has been well received by society, from the old to the young.

To meet the needs of fashionistas, the "peacock blanket" pattern is also produced in many places with other color tones, creating many other patterns such as peonies, chrysanthemums... but still keeping the main style of bright, warm colors.

Not only young people, many middle-aged women also choose peacock blanket patterned ao dai with two main colors of red and blue as their Tet outfit.
