According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in recent days, the water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs in the Northern region has improved. The current water levels of Son La, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, and Ban Chat reservoirs have all accumulated 5 to 9 meters above the dead water level. Lai Chau has a small reservoir, so the water level is 19.7 meters above the dead water level. These reservoirs are still limiting their mobilization to prepare for the next heat wave.
Currently, the North is in the early flood period. It is expected that in the coming time, the water flow to the lakes in the North will continue to increase and can ensure electricity supply with an average calculated load of about 421-425 million kWh/day. In the extreme case of no flood, the North can still use the remaining water in the lakes, combined with the natural water flow to the lakes to meet the load demand, however, the ability to store water will be difficult.
The Central and Southern regions ensure electricity supply and do not have to run on oil in the coming time. In some cases of unusually high load or incidents with many thermal power sources, DO oil sources can be flexibly mobilized to meet the demand.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also said that in recent days there have been power problems:
Coal-fired thermal power plant incident: Total long-term incident of 2,100 MW coal-fired thermal power plant units. At 5:30 a.m. on June 22, unit S1 of Nghi Son 1 power plant returned to standby.
On June 22, 2023, a coal-fired thermal power plant in the Northern region had reduced capacity (S3 Quang Ninh).
In Official Dispatch No. 3736/BCT-DTĐL dated June 15, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested thermal power plants to focus on human resources, materials and necessary conditions to immediately fix newly arising incidents of a short-term nature; urgently handle and fix generators that are having long-term incidents; at the same time, maintain power plants to ensure safe operation and improve the availability of generators for the remainder of 2023.
Since June 14, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has regularly organized working delegations to work directly at a number of thermal power plants in the North to urge and supervise the implementation of the above contents.
