The three nights of the Ho Chi Minh City International Music Festival - Ho Do 2023 had more than 100 domestic and international artists (from Asia, Europe, America to Africa) participating. The Organizing Committee of Ho Do - 2023 recorded that the event welcomed more than 200,000 audiences.
The numbers speak for themselves.
According to the initial plan, the Ho Do - 2023 Organizing Committee only expected to attract about 150,000 people in Ho Chi Minh City to participate. The number of more than 200,000 people recorded at the end of December 24 was a surprise joy for all those who organized it.
Musician Huy Tuan, the program's general director, said: "We have prepared very carefully for "Ho Do - 2023" and expect this music festival to gradually become a cultural brand with a place in the region. It is great that "Ho Do - 2023" has been successful beyond expectations, the program has received enthusiastic support from the city's audience and foreign tourists. Domestic audiences not only enjoy all genres of music performed during the 3 days of the festival, but are also extremely open to unfamiliar genres of music and young artists."
"Ho Do - 2023" is organized by the Organizing Committee of major holidays in Ho Chi Minh City, coordinated by the Ho Chi Minh City Light Music Center and Beyond Communication Company. Ho Do is considered one of the major cultural events that will make an impression in 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City. The Ho Do event aims to invest in developing the cultural industry and stimulating tourism in Ho Chi Minh City. "Ho Do - 2023" is also included in the Project "Organizing typical festivals, cultural and sports events in Ho Chi Minh City, period 2020-2030".
Full of youthful "spice"
In addition to the framework of a regular music festival, Ho Do is also a place to create leverage for young talents to have the opportunity to show off. Insiders believe that "Ho Do - 2023" is a musical "party" with a strong "spice" of youth, with a harmonious blend of contemporary folk sounds and international cultural elements. Most of the contestants are in their twenties, many of whom were born from 2000 onwards. On the path to conquering their dreams, they have many ambitions, have the opportunity to meet each other, to write together a story of creating music with a mark, with depth, and bring Vietnamese music to the world.
The first prize, worth VND100 million (including cash and gifts) from the Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Support Fund, along with a certificate and a souvenir cup, went to "Jaigon Orchestra"; the second and third prizes, worth VND30 million and VND20 million, went to "Nhan Danh" and "NOFF" respectively. These bands presented compositions with fresh creativity, from young souls, bringing the audience explosive moments with modern, trendy music genres such as: Indie rock, Alternative rock, pop rock, pop punk.
According to experts, the highlight of these young music groups is that although they compose songs based on melodies with many international inspirations, the songs all use 100% Vietnamese lyrics, and the content of the songs is all about stories and everyday moments, so reaching young audiences will be easier.

End of year meeting
People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said: "With the attention and facilitation of the city's leaders, Ho Do this year has many new contents such as: increasing activities to create playgrounds and search for young musical talents; organizing a discussion about the GenZ generation with the theme "living life to the fullest and accompanying the city's development"; discussion on the content "Ho Chi Minh City's music industry contributes to the national brand" ...
According to the Organizing Committee, with the name originating from a typical folk song of the Southern region, after 3 years of organization, the Ho Do event has completed its mission of becoming an international standard cultural and artistic destination with its own brand of Ho Chi Minh City. The program is gradually making its mark on the regional music festival map, promising to become an annual cultural and artistic destination for domestic and foreign tourists at the end of each year.
Musician Huy Tuan confided: "Ho Do is still striving to improve in a larger and more professional spirit, aiming to become a familiar address for the world's top cultural exchanges every year."
