The Vietnam team has completed all three friendly matches during FIFA Days in October 2023 with China, Uzbekistan and South Korea.
Coach Troussier encouraged his players after the match with Korea.
As a result, the red team lost all 3 matches, conceded 10 goals and did not score any.
Most recently, on the evening of October 17, the Vietnamese team lost 0-6 to South Korea at the Suwon World Cup stadium.
Despite the heavy loss, coach Troussier said that what his players showed in the match against the Korean team was even better than during the FIFA Days in June or September.
“We lost 0-6. If you just look at this score, I know you will find it difficult to realize right now that we have achieved certain positive points.
So I don't want to judge you guys just based on today's match and just looking at the score," Mr. Troussier shared after the match with Korea.
The French coach admitted that he had expected a better result, but because the difference in class between the two sides was so great, it was difficult for the Vietnamese team to cause a surprise.
“They have many players playing in Europe and the level of players playing in the domestic league is also very high. Against such a strong opponent, we lost 0-6, but I saw in you a spirit of not giving up until the last minute.
I also want to add that, in the last 30 minutes of the match, we only played with 10 men on the field, I still saw the resilience and discipline in your defense," coach Troussier continued.
The strategist born in 1955 said that in the previous victories of the Vietnamese team, he was very worried when the team revealed many weaknesses.
But in the match against Korea, these weaknesses were gradually overcome, passes became more accurate, decisions to deploy the ball were quicker and the way of moving without the ball also gradually improved.
“I saw the effort in pressured situations and especially the fact that you created finishing situations towards the opponent's goal, in this case Korea.
That is also what I want to see from you, not wins against Hong Kong, Syria or Palestine," Mr. Troussier concluded.
