(Dan Tri) - Coach Shin Tae Yong has received compensation. He decided to leave Indonesia to return to Korea.
Yesterday (January 26), Coach Shin Tae Yong completed the process of terminating his contract with the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI). According to some sources, he received about 3.6 million USD (more than 90 billion VND) in contract compensation from PSSI when he still had 2.5 years left on his contract.
After receiving a "mountain of money", Coach Shin Tae Yong decided to leave Indonesia to return to his home country of South Korea. He was accompanied by 8 Korean assistant coaches.
Recently, the process of terminating the contract between coach Shin Tae Yong and PSSI has encountered problems. The reason is that the Indonesian football management agency fired the Korean coach too hastily, so they have not prepared the documents. That has caused the strategist born in 1970 to not receive the contract compensation.
Before leaving for Korea, coach Shin Tae Yong said goodbye to Indonesia. He said: "Hello everyone! I am Shin Tae Yong. After 5 years, I will leave Indonesia and return to Korea. I would like to send my deep thanks to the Indonesian fans.
I leave with regret but I still love the Indonesian team. Hopefully the team can achieve success in the future, especially winning a ticket to the 2026 World Cup."
Meanwhile, Dr. Choi Ju Yong also said goodbye: "It's hard to say goodbye. Although my time with Indonesian football was not long, I really felt your love. I hope the Indonesian team will continue to win and achieve what the fans want."
After firing coach Shin Tae Yong, PSSI decided to appoint coach Patrick Kluivert. He is tasked with helping the Indonesian team win a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
