Baek Soon-jeong's body was placed at the Sancheong Funeral Home in Sancheong, Gyeongnam Province - the hometown of coach Park Hang Seo.
In 2022, Coach Park Hang Seo held a party to celebrate his mother's 100th birthday. The party took place in a warm family atmosphere. Baek's memory had declined a lot at that time but she still recognized her beloved son.
At that time, Coach Park Hang Seo shared: " I remember that I was not a person who did not listen to my mother when I was young. However, because of playing football, I was away from my mother for a long time. Now, I work in Vietnam so I do not see her often. Although I rarely show it, my mother is always the person I admire the most. I hope she can be healthy to see her youngest son Hang Seo work hard ."
In addition, Mr. Park shared more stories about the sacrifice of Mrs. Baek Soon-jeong. He said: " My mother sent all her children to study in Seoul, to attend university despite the difficult family circumstances. At first, my mother opened a small pharmacy. Then, when the children's tuition fees increased, she opened a restaurant, and even worked as a salt merchant. Thanks to my mother, I was able to come to Seoul and learn soccer ."
" As the youngest child, I sometimes argued with my mother and was scolded many times by my parents. After I became the pillar of the family and a father, I understood my mother's heart. I understood why she was sometimes very affectionate but also very determined with me ."
Baek was born in Saengcho-myeon, Sancheong County, South Gyeongsang Province. When she was still in school, she was considered the most educated female student in her hometown. She graduated from the prestigious Jinju High School (for girls), something that very few female students in Korea had done decades ago.
After graduating, she married Mr. Park Rok. Later, her husband suffered a serious leg injury, so Mrs. Baek took care of the family's livelihood. That woman struggled day after day to take care of her four sons and one daughter.
