HiteJinro starts construction of soju factory in Thai Binh, marking a global strategic move

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kim Inkyu, General Director of HiteJinro Group, emphasized that the Group has maintained the number one position in the Korean soju market for decades, with products present in 86 countries.

Notably, HiteJinro has maintained its title as the world’s top-selling distilled spirits brand for 23 consecutive years, making soju a symbol of Korean culinary culture. The construction of a factory in Vietnam is a bold move, realizing the ambition to make soju a globally popular liquor.

Vietnam is not only a potential market but also has special significance for HiteJinro. This is the first country the group exported soju to in 1968. In 2016, HiteJinro officially announced the "Soju Globalization" strategy in Vietnam and in 2024 - on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the group continued to choose Vietnam as the location for its first international factory. This decision demonstrates confidence in the strong growth of the Vietnamese market, while strengthening HiteJinro's position in the global liquor industry.

The factory in Thai Binh will be operated according to strict international standards, applying modern technology and advanced production processes to ensure optimal quality. In particular, HiteJinro is committed to sustainable development, building an environmentally friendly factory, strictly controlling carbon emissions and optimizing energy. In addition, the project will create thousands of job opportunities, contributing positively to the economic development of Thai Binh province and Vietnam.

Mr. Jung SungWhon, Director of Jinro Soju Vietnam Co., Ltd., provided more information on the progress of the Hitejinro Vietnam Factory project. The preparation process for the project has been carried out closely with the cooperation of many strategic partners. In October 2023, the group signed a land lease agreement in principle at Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park (Green iP1), continued to complete the land lease contract in January 2024 and received the Land Use Rights Certificate in May 2024. The factory is built on an area of 8.2 hectares, of which 3.2 hectares are for production area, office and auxiliary works. The entire production line is invested by the world's leading brands such as KHS (Germany) to ensure the most advanced automation system.

According to the plan, the factory will be completed in November 2026, run a trial run and start mass production from 2027. In the first phase, the expected capacity is 1 million cases of soju per year, then increased to 5 million cases through expansion and optimization of the production process. Products from the factory will not only serve the Vietnamese market but also be exported globally, helping to spread the soju culture more strongly.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that this event has important significance, marking a strong step forward for Thai Binh province in attracting investment, especially FDI, creating development momentum right from the first days of the new spring.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also highly appreciated the wise decision of the investor when choosing Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park to implement the project, affirming that putting the factories into operation will contribute positively to increasing the value of industrial production, exporting goods, creating more jobs and income for local workers and promoting the socio-economic development of Thai Binh province.

Provincial leaders requested investors to continue to focus resources, speed up progress and ensure project quality, comply with legal regulations on planning, land, investment, construction and environmental protection. Construction units need to ensure technical standards, labor safety and environmental sanitation, and not affect the lives of people in neighboring areas. Thai Binh province is committed to accompanying and supporting businesses throughout the project implementation process, together developing sustainably, towards a new era full of promise.
