Regarding the incident in which a first grader of Archimedes Academy Primary School was left behind in a car during a field trip on June 22, on behalf of the school's board of directors, Principal of Archimedes Academy Primary School Vu Thi Bao Tram officially apologized and took responsibility to the parents: "As I have informed parents in detail about the incident, I, the principal of Archimedes Academy Primary School, together with the entire school board of directors and teachers, would like to send you my sincere apologies.
The principal of Archimedes Academy Primary School wrote a "letter of apology" and accepted responsibility after a first-grade student of the school was left in a car.
The unfortunate incident happened and the child is now safe is the luckiest thing for us. The school takes serious responsibility to the student's parents and has sent a written report to the Department of Education and Training of Cau Giay District.
We know that parents and students have many questions and many "ifs" because this is not a small matter. Therefore, once again, the school, the entire board of directors, teachers and related people bow their heads and admit their mistakes, pledging that no incidents will occur that cause insecurity and affect the health and psychology of students and their families."
Before the principal wrote this "letter of intent", the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had requested relevant units to specifically report the incident.
Parents are worried
Commenting on the school's social media page, under the above "heartfelt letter", a parent wrote: "As a parent whose child is "just starting out" from kindergarten to experience English summer stories this time, I find the school unprofessional in terms of distributing uniforms, and we were not given student transportation cards.
I feel extremely sad that the school let such an incident happen because I have a lot of faith in the school's professionalism. I suggest that the school needs to have a careful plan for the compulsory summer camp for the first graders next July. I am waiting for the school to change."
Another parent suggested: "There should be a regulation requiring drivers to check all rows of seats when turning off the engine and confirm on the app that all students have been dropped off before moving back to the parking lot. At the same time, homeroom teachers must also take attendance when getting off the bus. There should be two separate departments so that parallel checks can be made to avoid situations of undercounting, not counting, or miscounting."
Archimedes Academy Primary School is one of the few private schools in Hanoi with quite strict requirements for first grade admission, and is also famous for its very high admission and reservation fees.
According to a report from Archimedes Academy Primary School, on June 22, students went on a picnic in Bat Trang (Gia Lam District, Hanoi) as planned and returned to school at 12:10 p.m. The bus stopped for about 10 minutes to drop off the students. The teacher subjectively neglected to take attendance when getting off the bus, resulting in missing a student who was sleeping on the bus.
At around 12:30, the teacher discovered that a student was missing, so the teachers split up to look for him and contacted the driver. At 12:40, the teacher received information from the driver and the student's mother at the same time. The driver immediately took the student back and arrived at the school at 12:45.
The school board met with the student's parents to apologize and held a meeting to review the individuals involved.
