Raising awareness

Using electricity economically has become a daily habit of Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung's family (Hoa Thuan Dong Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City). Mr. Dung shared: "Previously, my family used many devices incorrectly, leading to wasting electricity. After applying measures according to the instructions of the electricity industry, my family saves a significant amount of money every month." During the hot season, instead of setting the air conditioner at 24 degrees as before, his family always maintains it at 27 degrees; reminding family members to turn off electrical devices during peak hours.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) also regularly saves electricity by doing small things, gradually bringing great efficiency. When buying electrical appliances, she always chooses devices with energy-saving labels, reminding members to unplug devices such as televisions, sound systems, fans, etc. when not in use.

Saving electricity is saving money for every family.

Choosing energy-saving electrical equipment and using it reasonably and scientifically are solutions to help save electricity in the home, helping to significantly reduce electricity costs.

Specifically, an experimental control model on the operation of air conditioners in different weather conditions of Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC) has proven that: If in the same ambient temperature condition of 35 degrees Celsius, when setting the air conditioner temperature at 26 degrees Celsius, the electricity consumption is 3.55 kWh; and when setting the air conditioner at 20 degrees Celsius, the electricity consumption is 8.51 kWh. Thus, the lower the temperature, the more electricity the air conditioner consumes. Da Nang Electricity Company said that air conditioners are the most energy-consuming equipment and account for 28 - 64%, sometimes up to 80% of the electricity cost of the whole family. When the weather is hot from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius, if you turn on the air conditioner at 18 degrees Celsius, the electricity consumption of the air conditioner can increase up to 400% compared to days with average temperatures and the air conditioner is set at 27 degrees Celsius. Therefore, families should set the air conditioner at 27 degrees Celsius to be cool enough, while helping to save electricity and electricity costs.

Air conditioner should be set at 27°C or higher to save electricity.

Many people have the habit of not unplugging the TV from the power outlet but turning it off with the remote control, as well as not unplugging the phone charger even though it has finished charging. Although the electricity consumption at that time is not high, in the long run, the amount of money you have to spend is also significant.

In addition, to save electricity and reduce electricity costs during the hot season, people should take some measures such as: limiting the use of many electrical appliances at the same time; using the refrigerator properly to ensure the temperature inside the refrigerator ranges from 3-6 degrees Celsius and minus 15 to minus 18 degrees Celsius in freezing mode; cleaning the equipment, wiping off all dust and dirt to help electrical appliances double their function, making the lights brighter, the fans blow stronger; choosing LED bulbs to save more electricity...

"Just taking a small action to save electricity will bring great benefits to protecting natural resources, as well as saving customers' finances. Therefore, turn off electrical devices when not in use and consider this a regular practice in everyone's daily life," said Bui Do Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of PC Da Nang.
