According to VietNamNet on the afternoon of April 21, a section of the Han River bank at the end of Tran Hung Dao Street (Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City) was filled with the corpses of hundreds of jellyfish. These jellyfish were in the process of decomposing, each weighing nearly half a kilogram.
A local resident said that this is a brackish water jellyfish. Some people bring the jellyfish they catch here to process. They only take the legs to bring to restaurants to sell as food and throw the body back into the river.
"This jellyfish is not a fire jellyfish, it is not itchy. For about 20 days now, it has been jellyfish season, early in the morning people go out to collect it and bring it here to process," this person said.
Previously, social media appeared with images of jellyfish lining up along the banks of the Han River. Many people were worried that it would cause pollution and itch if anyone touched it.
Speaking to reporters, the leader of Nai Hien Dong ward said that the ward will send forces to inspect and coordinate with relevant units to collect the jellyfish carcasses for disposal, to avoid polluting the Han River.
