On August 9, Mr. Le Ngoc Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea H'leo District (Dak Lak), said that the district has just submitted a document to the People's Committee of Dak Lak Province and the Department of Education and Training, requesting funding and considering opening more classes to enroll more junior high school graduates into grade 10 to study at the Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center in Ea H'Leo District.

According to Mr. Hung, after reviewing, the whole district has about 500 junior high school graduates who have not been admitted to grade 10. "The district is assigning the Department of Education and Training and the Center for Continuing Education and Vocational Training to review and recalculate the number of classes and funding in detail to have a basis for continuing to propose," Mr. Hung said.

On the same day, Mr. Pham Dang Khoa, Director of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, said that the department had received a report from the People's Committee of Ea H'leo District regarding the request to open more classes for junior high school graduates.

According to Mr. Khoa, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training has submitted a document to the Provincial People's Committee so that the province can direct districts, towns, and cities to arrange funds for vocational education and continuing education centers to open additional 10th grade classes for the 2023-2024 school year.

According to the report of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, in the 2022-2023 school year, the whole province has 29,702 students graduating from junior high school. Of which, the number of students admitted to grade 10 high school (public and private) is 23,087, accounting for 77.73% of the total number of junior high school graduates.

The number of junior high school graduates who have not been admitted to grade 10 of high school is 6,615. The number of enrollment targets for grade 10 of the Continuing Education system of vocational education centers of districts, towns, cities, and vocational colleges and junior colleges: 3,685 students.

Thus, the whole province currently has 2,930 students graduating from grade 9 (accounting for 9.8%) who have not yet attended any educational institutions. At the same time, many districts do not have schools where students can learn vocational and cultural skills; students also face many difficulties in accessing vocational training schools nationwide, causing some parents to complain.

According to the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training, currently, vocational education and continuing education centers in districts, towns and cities, although having facilities and classrooms, the number of cultural teachers assigned to the payroll is limited, and the regular budget is not guaranteed.

"To create conditions for the above students to enter grade 10 of the Continuing Education system at vocational education and training centers in districts, towns and cities, the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training requests the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant units to balance capital sources, allocate additional funds and allow vocational education and training centers to open more classes and contract high school teachers in the area to teach," the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training's submission suggested.
