Hai Phong develops Cat Ba tourism into a "little Maldives of Asia"

Cat Ba archipelago - a place being oriented to develop into a "little Maidives of Asia".

The project is a specific activity to implement the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 323/QD-TTg dated March 30, 2023 on approving the adjustment of the General Planning of Hai Phong City to 2040, with a vision to 2050.

At the same time, the project is expected to contribute to the implementation of Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, as well as the Resolution of the 16th City Party Congress, term 2020-2025 and exploit the potential of marine, ecological and resort tourism with Cat Ba archipelago - Ha Long Bay recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage .

Accordingly, the project has a scale of more than 45.7 hectares of area right next to the center of Cat Ba town with a total investment of 12,495 billion VND and is planned to be built based on the idea of turning Cat Ba into a "little Maldives of Asia".

With more than 60% of the project area dedicated to developing public facilities, the project, when completed, will create a large-scale, high-quality and classy entertainment space, with highlights such as the central square, international standard public artificial beach, walking streets and a vibrant chain of services on both sides...

In particular, the unique architectural highlights of the central square inspired by the amazing beauty of Lan Ha Bay will turn this place into a cultural meeting place, a convenient public living space for residents and tourists...

With the goal of turning Cat Ba into the first carbon-free tourist island in our country, the project also plans a synchronous public electric vehicle system across the island, with stops, parking lots, and charging stations convenient for residents and tourists, aiming for all residents on the island as well as tourists to completely use environmentally friendly means of transport such as cable cars, electric cars, bicycles, etc. in the near future.

After the first cable car route Cat Hai-Phu Long was completed, Sun Group Corporation continued to build a new cable car route Phu Long-Cat Ba, creating a cable car system connecting directly from Cat Hai island to the center of Cat Ba town.

When completed, people and tourists will easily travel from Hai Phong city straight to the center of Cat Ba island and tourists can easily access the Cat Ba Central Bay Tourism, Service and Commercial Area project by cable car quickly, conveniently and minimizing emissions to the environment.

Along with that, the project area also includes a large-scale inland waterway wharf, helping visitors easily access Cat Ba center by sea from Hai Phong city or Cat Hai cable car station.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Khac Nam said that Hai Phong City advocates developing Cat Ba tourism in a direction that ensures harmony with the natural landscape, exploiting the natural landscape, water surface, and mountains on the principle of minimizing interference with the natural terrain, aiming to build Cat Ba into a smart, ecological tourist island.

Comrade Le Khac Nam also hopes that the project will contribute to diversifying tourism products, supplementary services, entertainment services, commercial centers, shopping areas, conferences, etc. to attract tourists to Cat Ba - an archipelago recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage - where there is a diverse marine ecosystem and unique terrain and is one of the tourist attractions of the Port City.

Along with that, the project also contributes to promoting investment attraction to develop infrastructure and facilities to serve tourism and service development - one of the three pillars of the city's socio-economy.

In Cat Ba, the focus is on developing high-end resorts, entertainment, hotels, restaurants meeting national and international standards, resort real estate, etc. to change the face of tourism on the island district.
