At SEA Games 32, U22 Laos has two formidable players of Vietnamese origin, Nalongsit Chanthalangsy and Damoth Thongkhamsavath. Nalongsit plays as a full-back. This player has emerged in Laos in recent years.

It is worth mentioning that, despite his young age, Nalongsit played for the Laos national team in the 2020 AFF Cup. In the tournament in Singapore, the defender born in 2001 started in the 0-2 loss of the Laos national team to the Vietnam national team. After that, Nalongsit played with the Laos U22 team in the 0-6 loss to the Vietnam U22 team at the 31st SEA Games last year.
Nalongsit's father is Vietnamese and his hometown is in Ho Chi Minh City. Speaking to the press, he shared: "My father is Vietnamese. I have played against the Vietnamese team in the past. They are a very strong team."
The second player is Damoth. His grandparents are from Quang Binh. This is the first time the player born in 2004 has participated in a Lao team. Damoth's best position is midfielder. He shared that he admires two Vietnamese players, Van Toan and Quang Hai.
In addition, the U22 Laos team also has three other foreign-born players: midfielder Roman Angot (Bahlinger SC, Germany), defender Theo Klein (Omaha Mavericks, USA) and striker Victor Yovinasak (Montceau, France). The remaining players of the U22 Laos team all play domestically, notably Peter Panthavong.
The U22 Laos coaching staff also includes Willander Fonseca, former assistant to coach Park Hang Seo in the Vietnam national team. Leading this team is coach Michael Weiss.
In the opening match, U22 Laos will face U22 Vietnam at 7:00 p.m. on April 30.
