After the joy of winning the AFF Cup 2024, striker Tien Linh suddenly realized that his gold medal was completely different from the other 39 members of the Vietnamese team. Still gold-plated, Tien Linh's gold medal was engraved with the words "Runner up".
As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, Tien Linh later, through VFF, requested the AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee to replace the "genuine" gold medal for him, receiving an apology from the AFF Cup Organizing Committee with a promise to send it as soon as possible.
The AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee has said and done. Today, Tien Linh has received a gold-plated gold medal with the word "Champion" engraved on it like his teammates and other members of the Vietnamese team.

In an exchange program with Saigontourist Group's SCTV station, striker Tien Linh once expressed his wish that after receiving the "genuine" gold medal, he would keep the special defective gold medal to auction for charity.
However, according to the AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee, in the spirit of the highest tournament in Southeast Asia, they will have to withdraw the faulty gold medal. Tien Linh, even if he wants to, must return his special gold medal.
He expressed: "I am very happy to receive the AFF Cup 2024 gold medal today, which will be the motivation for me to try to score in round 12 of the V-League. I feel a bit regretful that I cannot keep that special medal to do charity work, but I still cherish the idea of having a special program in Binh Duong."
It is known that Tien Linh is one of the players who is most active in charity programs in Vietnam. He was honored to receive the 'Beautiful Youth' award from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union 2024 in collaboration with TCP Vietnam Company.
