According to the report of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2022-2023 school year, the Department has successfully organized and implemented many exams, enrollment and education quality assessment to recognize schools that meet national standards, ensuring publicity, transparency, objectivity, quality and creating convenience for students, parents and teachers.
In the 2022-2023 school year, the Capital Education sector successfully and safely organized exams and admissions with clear changes in quality. With 99.56% of high school graduates, Hanoi increased 11 places compared to the 2022 exam, ranking 16th out of 63 provinces and cities.
The 10th grade entrance exam took place safely, smoothly and met the students' learning aspirations. The rate of students admitted to public schools reached nearly 61% of the total number of students admitted to grade 10; 21.7% of students were admitted to private schools. The remaining students studied at vocational education centers - continuing education centers, vocational training centers.
Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that in the 2022-2023 school year, the management of exams and assessment of education quality still face many challenges. The biggest challenge is the rapid urbanization rate, the strong increase in population, leading to pressure on enrollment in kindergartens, grades 1, 6, and 10, leading to some schools having more classes than the prescribed number; the phenomenon of the number of students per class being higher than the prescribed number.
"In the 2023-2024 school year, the city's educational scale will be 2,875 schools with nearly 2.3 million preschool and primary school students, an increase of 35 schools compared to the same period last school year. Each year, the city builds 35-40 more schools. However, the number of students is also increasing rapidly, estimated at 40,000 to 60,000 students/school year... Meeting the learning needs in some districts and densely populated areas is still a big challenge," said Mr. Tran The Cuong.
Regarding the high school graduation exam, according to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Hanoi has a very large number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam every year, usually accounting for about 1/10 of the total number of candidates nationwide, with a high proportion of independent candidates. Independent candidates are mainly workers, or police and conscript soldiers.
Regarding enrollment in kindergartens, grades 1, 6, and 10 for the 2024-2025 school year, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong directed units and schools in the city to review and prepare well the conditions to increase the application of information technology and apply online enrollment.
The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also paid special attention to private schools and schools with foreign elements conducting online enrollment to ensure smooth and transparent enrollment, ending the situation of parents lining up to submit applications. The Department will resolutely not assign quotas to violating units.
In addition, Mr. Cuong also requested that units need to step up communication work to cadres, teachers, students and the whole society about the 2024 high school graduation exam and orientation to organize the high school graduation exam from 2025, continue to seriously implement the work of assessing the quality of education according to regulations...
