The Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is coordinating with the Department of Transport and consulting units to prepare a feasibility study report for the Tu Lien Bridge project and the road from Tu Lien Bridge to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway.
This is one of the key transport infrastructure projects in Hanoi in the 2021-2025 period, with a total preliminary investment of more than 19,000 billion VND.
Tu Lien Bridge connects the west bank of the Red River along Au Co - Nghi Tam route in Yen Phu and Tu Lien wards (Tay Ho district) with the east bank of the Red River in Dong Anh district.
Tu Lien Bridge is 2.9km long, the main bridge is 1km long, the cross-sectional scale according to the planning ensures 6 lanes for motor vehicles.
The bridge span is 1,000m long, the distance between pillars is 500m, the top of the tower is 158m high, and can withstand a level 8 earthquake.
According to the approved design, Tu Lien is a cable-stayed bridge, combining torsion beams, creating large spans with a light steel frame system, two main bridge piers are shaped, expected to become a new symbol of Hanoi.
The construction of a bridge in the inner city across the Red River will help reduce traffic congestion on routes from the inner city to the northern provinces; reduce population density in the city center, contributing to the sustainable development of the capital.
In addition to Tu Lien, Hanoi City is also speeding up preparations for investment in the construction of Tran Hung Dao Bridge, which is expected to be implemented in the period from 2025 to 2027.
The bridge spans the Red River, connecting Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung and Long Bien districts. The project has a total investment of more than 16,000 billion VND.
The main bridge is 900m long, including 6 spans, the total length of the bridge and the approach roads at both ends is about 5.5km. The cross-section of the main bridge at the middle of the span is 40.66m, at the bridge pier is 47.76m.
Tran Hung Dao Bridge is designed with 4 motor vehicle lanes, two mixed lanes, two bicycle lanes and sidewalks for pedestrians.
According to the architectural plan chosen by Hanoi City, Tran Hung Dao Bridge has an arched structure, two curves touching each other, repeating 6 spans creating an infinity image meaning "Hanoi without limits".
When completed, the project will contribute to completing the planned traffic infrastructure system, reducing traffic congestion, contributing to the development of production and business, accelerating the completion of urban areas in the region, and promoting the socio-economic development of the capital.
