(Dan Tri) - The gold-plated Tu Lien kumquat pots on Tan Mai Street (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) attract people's attention because of their uniqueness and luxury.
As Tet approaches, the buying and selling atmosphere in flower markets and streets in Hanoi is increasingly bustling. In particular, many ornamental plants such as kumquat, peach, orchid, etc. are transformed by garden owners into unique products to serve the tastes of the people.
Notable among them is the mini kumquat pot, bonsai shape, plated with 24K gold. According to Dan Tri reporter, although this item has just been launched, it has quickly attracted a large number of people to order or buy directly.

Mr. Hung, owner of a Tu Lien kumquat stall on Tan Mai Street (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) said that the kumquat trees selected for gilding were all grown in Tu Lien, had beautiful shapes, large, even fruits and bore many fruits.
"Every time Tet comes, people often buy a kumquat tree with the hope of prosperity and luck. This year, I came up with the idea of gilding the fruit and the tree pot to add elegance and nobility to the kumquat trees," Mr. Hung shared.
Many people are curious and excited to see the unique kumquat bonsai pots. The price of a mini kumquat pot ranges from 400,000 VND to 1 million VND depending on the size. Bonsai kumquat pots will cost more, 4.5-5 million VND, decorated with miniature landscapes, and gilded both the trunk and the base of the tree.
"Most customers, when they see a kumquat tree, will not think the price is so affordable. The gold leaves on the tree and the tree pot are 24K industrial gold, commonly used in interior decoration and household appliances with durability and shine no different from real gold," Mr. Hung confided.

Mr. Bui Chi Nam (bonsai artist) said that it only takes 2-3 hours to complete a mini kumquat product. For a larger pot, it can take 2-3 days.
"To make a gold-plated kumquat tree, it needs to go through three main stages: applying glue, gold plating and polishing. The most difficult stage is when applying glue and gold plating, it requires a certain level of meticulousness so that the glue does not stick to other fruits and the product has a high level of completion," Nam shared.

The type of gold that Mr. Nam uses is industrial gold leaf, usually 500-3,000 gold leaves are needed for a medium-sized kumquat pot.
"The number of gold-plated fruits depends on the customer's wishes, usually only 3-5 fruits to decorate a mini kumquat pot," Mr. Nam added.

With the desire to have a potted plant in the house to play Tet, Ms. Ngoc (Hue Street, Hanoi) walked along Tan Mai Street to find a suitable ornamental plant. After stopping at the booth displaying gold-plated kumquat, she immediately chose for herself a mini kumquat pot that met her criteria the most.
"This kumquat pot is compact, the fruit is big and round, and is gilded to increase its value. This will definitely be the highlight of my tea table this Tet At Ty," Ms. Ngoc shared.
After talking with Mr. Dung (a kumquat seller) for a while, Mr. Hai (Lao Cai) decided to buy 5 pots of gold-plated kumquat to bring back to his hometown to give to relatives as well as to place on the family altar.
"This is the first time I have seen such a unique and novel kumquat tree. The kumquat trees, after being gilded, have a longer lifespan, can be played with longer, and are suitable as Tet gifts when visiting relatives," Mr. Hai confided.
After only one week on sale, the unique kumquat product has attracted a large number of customers. The owner of a kumquat stall hopes that the model of gold-plating ornamental trees for Tet will spread in the coming years.
