On August 27, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that package No. 10 of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project has reached nearly 90% of the total volume.
This package is worth more than 120 billion VND, including construction items of roads, retaining walls, sidewalks, and drainage systems from the section adjacent to Thang Long Street to the section adjacent to 18E Street.
Most importantly, package 10 has branch 2 from 18E Street towards Cong Hoa Street, which helps vehicles not have to gather at Lang Cha Ca roundabout. The Traffic Department has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Tan Binh District People's Committee and Division 370 to agree on a plan to open the above-mentioned road section to traffic on September 30.
Package No. 10 (blue section) of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road is about to open to traffic.
The road is designed with 6 lanes to help share traffic to residential areas on both sides of Cong Hoa Street during rush hour. After the entire route connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa is opened, this is also a particularly important intersection because it will be divided into 2 branches. Including: a branch turning left to Cong Hoa, a branch turning right to enter the main route.
On the main route, pedestrians will go straight to Truong Chinh or turn right to enter the T3 terminal bridge of Tan Son Nhat airport.
According to Giao thong Newspaper reporters at the construction site, the entire main traffic route and drainage system have been completed. The contractor is mobilizing more than 60 workers and 10 motorbikes and equipment to transport and assemble curb bricks. Along the section from 18E Street to Cong Hoa, the lighting lines have been pulled and branched out, waiting at the lamp post locations.
"Thanks to the coordinated support of Division 370, Package 10 has had many construction phases ahead of schedule, ensuring the common goal of expanding traffic infrastructure and reducing congestion at the gateway area of Tan Son Nhat airport," said a representative of the construction unit.
Phan Thuc Duyen underpass opened to traffic on August 12, hoping to relieve congestion at the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen intersection. However, because the entire route has not been opened yet, traffic after passing through the underpass is congested at the Phan Thuc Duyen - Thang Long intersection.
After package 10 opens to traffic, people can go straight through the area temporarily managed by the military to enter Cong Hoa Street near Hoang Hoa Tham overpass.

The first section of the overpass under package number 11 of the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road is currently under construction of the approach road.
The viaduct section adjacent to packages 11 and 12, the construction unit is preparing to install the last beam.
Package No. 12 worth more than 275 billion VND on the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road is also about to be completed.
On the final section of the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan to Cong Hoa under package 13, the construction unit has completed about 70% of the road items, drainage system, and spiral pipes covered with electric wires are being gathered for completion.
The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project will start construction at the end of 2022 with a total investment of more than 4,800 billion VND. The entire route is about 4.4km long, with a scale of 6 lanes, and is expected to relieve traffic congestion in the area around Tan Son Nhat airport, especially in the direction of traffic to the Northwest of Ho Chi Minh City.
Initially, the project had 6 main construction packages but currently only 5 packages have been constructed. The Tan Ky Tan Quy tunnel construction package alone is likely to be split into an independent project or implemented in phase 2.
