Health education communication requires both communication art and psychological skills.

At the program, Master Do Thi Nam Phuong, Head of the Communication Center of University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital shared: "The team of doctors and medical staff not only heal with expertise but also with official information, spreading correct knowledge to help the community understand and protect their own health. To implement effectively, the plan needs to clearly define the communication goals, target audience and appropriate communication methods. In addition, each student needs to proactively cultivate their own expertise, communication skills, understand the psychology of the target audience, be meticulous in form and have the ability to apply modern communication technology" .

Also as a speaker of the talk show, Master - Doctor Nguyen Hien Minh - Deputy Head of the Vaccination Unit, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital reminded future colleagues about clinical professional skills when examining and treating patients to Analyze and integrate the secret to spreading health information. As an influential medical expert in the media, working very effectively with the hospital's media center, Master - Doctor Nguyen Hien Minh shared: "The development of technology helps people connect and interact with each other more and more easily, more immediately, more continuously. Therefore, applying Facebook, Zalo, YouTube... to create communication channels that are both low-cost and easy and convenient is an inevitable trend. As people with correct information, we have the responsibility to share, but when the speed of spreading and scrolling is too fast, we only have 5 seconds to attract the attention of viewers. Choosing what and how to make them stop to listen and watch our information is not only a challenge but also a skill that needs to be cultivated".

The program provided students with an overview of health communication planning, from defining goals, analyzing audiences, selecting communication channels, designing content, to measuring campaign effectiveness. These are important skills that not only help students better prepare for the future, but also open up opportunities to participate in health communication right from school.

Questions from reality

One of the highlights of the talk show that the two speakers highly appreciated was the initiative, seriousness and creativity of the students. Specific questions such as "How can students contribute to health communication?" or "How to create a complete health education communication plan?; When is it necessary to influence a specific audience?" reflected the interest of young students in communication.

Both speakers encouraged students to cooperate with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to participate in building useful communication products for patients, gradually contributing to the mission of spreading authentic medical knowledge to the community.

"If you want to develop and contribute to medical communications, right from when you are in university, you need to have a direction and invest time and effort. Hopefully, the students participating in the program will be the seeds that the school and institute really want to nurture. We always welcome you. Don't hesitate, start with a specific task, be open with your peers, and have a common voice," Master Do Thi Nam Phuong encouraged.

"After just 1 hour, there were 500 registrations! That shows that medical students are very interested in the power of medical communication. Gen Z is the generation that understands that communication is not a temporary trend of the digital age, but is always needed when wanting to educate awareness, improve public health, an important task of future doctors and medical staff. Participating in these activities is also the most practical, fastest and most effective way to learn. Medical students understand that health communication is not only a skill, but also a task of medical staff". Vu Thi Phuong Uyen, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Health Education Communication Skill Building Competition (HECS) shared.

The workshop series "Building and developing communication skills for social impact medical professionals (KMOLs)" was organized by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in collaboration with RMIT University Vietnam in 2024 and many more activities in 2025. The KMOLs workshop series has now created a community of social impact medical professionals with over 600 members, regularly sharing how to implement health education programs integrated into communication programs, helping members become more confident with their own medical professional skills.
