Introducing Vietnamese traditional arts and promoting Dien Bien province in Geneva

The ceremony, chaired by the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva in coordination with the Dien Bien Provincial Delegation led by Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial Fatherland Front Lo Van Mung, left a deep impression on international friends and the Vietnamese community in Switzerland.

Attending the event were representatives of international organizations in Geneva, Ambassadors, Heads of Delegations and representatives of Delegations of countries in Geneva, representatives of the state government and Swiss agencies, many international friends and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Switzerland.

Reviewing the country's development achievements, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai affirmed that Vietnam has been actively cooperating and integrating internationally, being a friend, a reliable partner, a responsible member of the international community, successfully assuming positions at the regional and international levels, joining hands with other countries to promote solidarity and global cooperation towards a world of peace and sustainable development, promoting and protecting the human rights of all people, leaving no one behind. Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai was very pleased to introduce Dien Bien province, a locality with a glorious heritage in Geneva.

On the side of Dien Bien province, the provincial leaders introduced and emphasized the potential and strengths of the province, along with the achievements in socio-economic development of the locality. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Dien Bien province Lo Van Mung said that in 2024, Dien Bien province will solemnly organize a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, combined with the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement, with the desire to raise awareness of the value of peace, as well as the socio-economic development in Dien Bien province and in Vietnam in general.

The event featured a variety of programs including photo exhibitions, introducing the country’s landscapes, culture, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic development achievements and unique cuisine of Vietnam. In addition, the Geneva Delegation also introduced and displayed handicrafts and agricultural products of Dien Bien province and some other regions.

Also on this occasion, there will be a special performance of traditional folk art with typical dances of ethnic groups in the Northwest, Hue royal court music and costumes of many ethnic groups performed by the Dien Bien Provincial Art Troupe, combined with performances of traditional Vietnamese musical instruments such as the zither, T'rung, and monochord by artist Minh Trang and child singer Thien Vy, an overseas Vietnamese in Switzerland...

Attendees also enjoyed the jubilant atmosphere of Lion dance performances and unique Vietnamese traditional martial arts performed by the Vietnamese Son Long martial arts and Vietnamese martial arts groups in Switzerland, consisting of young Vietnamese and Swiss people.
