"Heaven's Gate Opening" Day at the National Historical and Cultural Relic of Nua Temple - Am Tien

VHO - Every year on the 9th of January (February 6), thousands of tourists make a pilgrimage to the Nua - Am Tien Temple Historical and Cultural Relic Complex (Nua town, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province) on the day of "opening the gates of heaven" to pray for fortune and luck.

From early morning, people and tourists from all over the country flocked to attend the opening ceremony of Nua - Am Tien temple and the opening of the gate to heaven.

According to records, from early morning, thousands of tourists were present at Nua - Am Tien temple to make pilgrimages and pray for good things in the new year.

Incense burning and worship activities of locals and tourists take place quickly and neatly, without the scene of people jostling to offer incense.

Due to the hourly traffic jam, many tourists were forced to park their cars on the side of the road to walk to the top of Ngan Nua.

Every year, people and tourists from all over come to Nua mountain to pray for peace and good luck in the new year.

According to historical records, in 248, Trieu Thi Trinh (aka Ba Trieu) and her brother Trieu Quoc Dat, a powerful district magistrate in the region, gathered righteous men, chose Nua mountain as a base to practice martial arts, raise an army, and fight off the invading Eastern Wu army.

Although the uprising later failed, the female general had to commit suicide at Tung Mountain (Trieu Loc Commune, Hau Loc District, Thanh Hoa Province today), her saying: "I want to ride the strong wind, step on the fierce waves, kill the whales in the East Sea, drive out the Wu invaders to regain the country, free myself from slavery, and not bow down to be someone else's concubine" is still passed down through many generations.

In March 2009, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the Ba Trieu uprising site including Nua Mountain - Nua Temple - Am Tien Temple as a national historical and scenic relic.

In August 2011, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province approved a plan to preserve and promote the historical and scenic values ​​of this place in conjunction with the development of spiritual and cultural tourism.

Fairy Well never dries up even though it is located on a mountain at an altitude of over 500m, with no creeks or streams, and many years the surrounding area has dried up but the well is still full of clear water. No one knows when this well was built. This place is believed to be Ba Trieu Well and the insurgents used the water every day. There is also a legend that fairies are seen bathing every night, so it is called Fairy Well.

According to legend, Vietnam has 3 sacred acupuncture points. In addition to the acupuncture point at Da Chong Mountain (Ba Vi, Hanoi) and the acupuncture point at Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh), the acupuncture point at Am Tien is the 3rd sacred acupuncture point of the country.

The acupuncture point in Am Tien is considered to be the place where the cosmic energy of heaven and earth harmonizes. According to folk beliefs, when people and tourists come to the acupuncture point, men should walk 7 times and women should walk 9 times around it to have luck and peace.
