Leaders of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center perform rituals before lowering the flagpole.
The flag-lowering ceremony is held at two locations: Trieu Mieu relic - where the 9 Nguyen lords are worshiped; and Hien Lam Cac - The Mieu relic, where the Nguyen dynasty kings are worshiped.
Before lowering the pole, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center presides over rituals such as offering poles, playing grand and small music, playing bells and drums... with rituals simulating those of the ancient royal court.

The 20m long pole was lowered by guards (actors from the Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre in costume). The box containing the symbolic golden seal and offerings at the top of the pole was carefully taken out.
The gold seal is taken out of the box, marking the end of the Lunar New Year holiday and the beginning of a new year's work.

At the The Mieu relic site, after lowering the flagpole, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center opened the seal and presented the first words of the year. Many meaningful words such as: Prosperity, Good Luck, Longevity, Peace, Happiness, Fortune,... were presented to visitors.

Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, said: In recent years, according to ancient traditions, we have organized a ceremony to lower the flagpole and open the seal, sending good wishes for the new year.
This activity aims to introduce to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists the cultural traditions of the nation as well as increase interesting experiences for visitors in early spring at the Hue heritage site.

Despite the unfavorable weather, cold and rainy, this cultural activity was still organized with all the basic rituals and received the attention and welcome of many tourists to Hue.
