VHO - On February 10, 2025, regarding the fire at the national relic Lang Ve Pagoda (Tho Xuong Ward, Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province), Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) Tran Dinh Thanh signed Official Dispatch No. 101/DSVH-DT to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang Province requesting a proposed handling plan.

The Department of Cultural Heritage requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province to direct relevant agencies to coordinate with local authorities to assess the extent of damage and propose a solution.

The dispatch stated that the Department of Cultural Heritage received information that the national relic Lang Ve Pagoda (Tho Xuong Ward, Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province) caught fire at around 1:00 a.m. on February 10, 2025.

Regarding this, the Department of Cultural Heritage requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province to direct relevant agencies to coordinate with local authorities to urgently conduct a site inspection at the relic and take immediate measures to protect the relic.

At the same time, assess the extent of damage and propose a solution, report to the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, before 10:00 a.m. on February 11, 2025.

Regarding the incident, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province Nguyen Si Cam said that immediately after the fire broke out at Lang Ve pagoda (Tho Xuong ward, Bac Giang city), this morning, February 10, 2025, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and specialized units were present at the site of the relic, preliminarily assessed the current situation, causes and initially directed measures to handle and overcome the consequences as well as promptly proposed a plan to restore and embellish Lang Ve pagoda, meeting the religious needs of the people.

Also on February 10, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang issued Official Dispatch No. 225/SVHTTDL-QLDSVH to the People's Committee of Bac Giang City and the Provincial Museum requesting a report on the fire; Official Dispatch No. 226/SVHTTDL - QLDSVH to the People's Committee of Bac Giang City regarding strengthening measures to ensure safety for the Lang Ve Pagoda relic.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province requested the People's Committee of Bac Giang city to deploy more police and local militia forces to blockade and strictly protect the scene, not allowing unauthorized people to enter or exit.

Immediately deploy a plan to cover the entire area where the fire occurred, ensuring the investigation of the authorities. Strengthen propaganda, timely and accurate information about the incident, stabilize the situation, and ensure security and order in the area.

At the same time, review and count the damage caused by the fire; chair and invite relevant agencies to meet to agree on immediate and long-term handling measures; promptly propose a plan to renovate and embellish Lang Ve Pagoda to meet the religious needs of the people.
