Doctor Vu Thi Le, Institute for Treatment of Senior Military Officers (108 Central Military Hospital), said that peptic ulcers are ulcers that form on the lining of the stomach or duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).

This condition is often caused by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) or long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Some natural methods help reduce symptoms and support the treatment of stomach ulcers. Specifically:

Plant antioxidants (flavonoids)

Food sources containing flavonoids include apples, blueberries, cauliflower, broccoli, peas, green tea.

Flavonoids (also known as bioflavonoids) are natural compounds found in many fruits, vegetables, and beverages. They protect the stomach lining and prevent the growth of H. pylori bacteria. Flavonoids help reduce inflammation and protect mucosal cells from damage.

The best way to ensure adequate flavonoid intake is to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.

Probiotics

Food sources containing probiotics include yogurt, sauerkraut, and kimchi.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help balance intestinal microflora, aid digestion and promote intestinal health.

Research shows that probiotics can help eliminate H. pylori bacteria and enhance the effectiveness of ulcer treatments. Probiotics help balance the microflora in the stomach and reduce inflammation.

Honey

Honey is a natural ingredient with high antibacterial properties, it can help fight H.pylori and promote the healing of stomach ulcers thanks to its enzymes and anti-inflammatory properties.

How to use: Use 2 teaspoons of pure honey mixed with 200ml of warm water. Should be taken early in the morning or at night before going to bed. Should be persistent in doing it every day.

Garlic

Garlic contains the compound allicin, which has strong antibacterial properties and may help inhibit the growth of H. pylori bacteria. Eating raw garlic or adding garlic supplements to your diet may help reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.

How to use: Eat 2-3 cloves of raw garlic every day or combine garlic and honey in the following way: prepare 15g of fresh garlic, peel and crush, put in a glass jar. Pour 100ml of pure honey to cover. Cover tightly and place in a cool, dry place for about 3 weeks.

Morning and evening, mix 1 spoon of honey and garlic with warm water or take 2-3 cloves of garlic soaked in honey, chew and swallow.

Licorice

Licorice, especially the deglycyrrhizinated form (DGL), is a popular natural remedy for treating stomach ulcers, helping to increase the production of gastric mucus, creating a natural protective layer for the lining.

Research shows that DGL licorice may help reduce ulcer size and protect the stomach lining from stomach acid.

How to use: Prepare 3-5g of dried licorice, wash off all dirt. Put the licorice in a pot, add 500ml of boiling water. When the water boils, turn down the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove the licorice residue, strain the juice and divide into several servings to drink during the day.

How to use: Mix turmeric powder and honey in a 1:1 ratio with warm water. Stir well and drink directly before each meal. Should drink 3 times/day continuously for 2 weeks to see improvement.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a natural ingredient that has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is often used to aid digestion and help relieve symptoms of stomach ulcers.

How to use: Prepare 5 aloe vera leaves, peel, wash to remove all the sticky resin on the outside. Puree the aloe vera, put it in a jar and mix with 1/2 liter of honey. Cover tightly and store in the refrigerator. Each time, use 10ml of aloe vera mixed with 150ml of warm water, drink 30 minutes before meals. Use 3 times/day, do it regularly for 2-3 days.

Ginger

Ginger is a familiar spice with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Ginger has the effect of reducing stomach acid and protecting the stomach from the attack of ulcer-causing factors.

How to use: Wash fresh ginger, peel off the skin and slice thinly. Crush or squeeze the ginger to get the juice. Take 2 teaspoons of ginger juice mixed with 200ml of hot water, add a few grains of salt. Drink every morning before eating. Use it daily to see improvement in symptoms.

"Although the above natural methods can help reduce the symptoms of stomach ulcers, they should not completely replace medical treatments. Always consult your doctor before applying any natural remedies to ensure they do not cause negative interactions with current medications," Dr. Le emphasized.
